    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Thanks for the enouragement, jojo! And Ooooooooouwwch  -hope that tailbone injury heals v quickly!!! I feel absolutely out if control at the minute, and when I'm not eating well at this crazy  time of the year, I just get worse when it gets here . I feel awful, b/c I really can't wait for Christmas to be over, which is NOT the way it's supposed to be! Hmmm, as for runnning - haven't done ANY since Sussan fun run!!!!!! And the next 6 weeks or so with 4 kids @ home, I may not do too much more , either. BUT, my baby goes to school next year (ie in about 7 weeks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and they'll all be in the same place for the next 2 years (bliss!!!!) so I'll have NO excuse, as I'm fortunate enough to not have to go back to work (yet!!) I always said that when #4 went of to school, I was going to the gym every day, and having coffee with various girlfriends (almost) every day - and that's still the plan - basically a year off for me - YAY! Of course I'll be quite involved with helping at school, but I'm hoping to really concentrate on my diet, particularly in the first part of the year - and really get that right, as well as my fitness.

Lorna - Wolfmother?????ROTFL .....no, I don't think so!!!! As for going o/s, I DID ask hubby if we could move to Londidndon just for a little bit, so I could go and see Coldplay LOTS more.........he didn't think it was such a fabulous idea....I just can't understand why!!!!!Lol

Have a Merry Christmas everyone, in case I don't get back on before then!!!Gift  Alison

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Alison, wasn't serious about Wolfmother, but I was half-serious about setting a goal to see Coldplay overseas!  Look out hubby!  Maybe if they toured through southern Asia?

Next year sounds like a great year for YOU, looking after YOU.  Get ready to set some goals.  Just a thought - maybe a dietician (sp?) or sports nutritionist, to take you up to the next level - depends where you want to go.

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Thanks Lorna - actually, Coldply ARE touring South America in Feb/March, and the thought crossed my mind.....but I could probably think of places other than there that I'd like to go to see them!!!!!

I'd love some professional help...(no not THAT kind!!!!!) but I really have no aspirations to be a professional athlete, or anything like that. I'd just like to be fit and healthy, and basically the best I can be for ME.

Having said that, you'd never know it by the way I've been eating over the past ....well, 4 months, really! On Christmas Day I was fine, I didn't overeat, and didn't feel stuffed at the end of the day. Then we went to Sydney for a week, and for some reason I felt the need to consume copious amounts of chocolate,in particular,  as well as soooooooooooo much other cr*p!!!!! And being school hols, I haven't done any exercise , apart from a bit of sight seeing walking, since before Christmas!

I really don't want to tell anyone this, but I think I need to, to make myself accountable, and to get me back on track.....out of the 11kg I lost b/w Feb and July last year, I have now put 9.5 back on . What a disgrace!!!!! None of my little clothes fit (OBVIOUSLY!!!) and I just feel awful - annoyed at myself, and tired all the time! So, there you have it- I REALLY need to do something NOW. This year I really plan to look after me as all 4 kids are at school, so I'll have much more time, and I won't be restricted by creche times at the gym, as well as kinder drop offs/ pick ups. And, I figure after almost 11 years of concentrating on kids, it's my time to do this for myself. I also know that passing on good eating and exercise habits to the kids is one of the best things I can do for them, too.

I mentioned earlier that I was considering doing Atkins, and after reading and re-reading the book, I've decided to go with that, because I think it's appropriate for me as it really is bad carbs that have got a hold of me at the minute. Actually hubby and I are doing it together, as he wants to lose about 15 kg or so, so hopefully it will be a little easier having a weight loss partner right here at home! We're only on day 3, and I'm still strugling with wanting to grab a bar of chocolate and do the "I'll start tomorrow..." thing, but the food you're allowed is all good, healthy and satisfying - I'm certainly not hungry, just still struggling with what basically is an addiction - the dreaded choc cravings!!!

So, we've started now - no looking back!Big Smile  Alison

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Thanks, TF. Well, I'm 10 days into Atkins, and I an LOVING it- it's so easy, I love the food, feel much better, AND, I lost 2.7kg in the first 5 days!!!!!!!! (Yeah, yeah, I know some of it's water weight, but, hey - that's pretty good!) Haven't weighed myself again yet , I'll wait till after TTOM!!! I haven't even been perfect, either -  had a cocktail party a week in, then went to a friend's place the other night for dinner, but other than that I've been good. The best thing is that I'm not always hungry, and I don't crave the dreaded chockie . So, it's definitely a good fit for me. Have unfortunately done  barely any exercise, due to going away, and kids @ home! Trying to do a bit at home. Kids go back on Jan 31, and youngest starts this year, so 2007 is MY year!!!!! Roll on Jan 31..........Lol  Alison

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Hi guys, thought I'd drop in and give a bit of a progress report. I've lost 5.5kg in the last 3 &1/2 wks, so down to 63kg, and fat% has also dropped by 2%.Haven't done a huge amount of exercise (school hols), but looking forward to getting back into it seriously next week,as I'll have NO kids at home for the first time in almost 11yrs. Feeling a bit "nervous" , almost, as my baby starts Prep on Thursday. Boys go back tomorrow (thank God for that!!!!) Anyway, all's going well, feeling good, and feeling a lot better about myself!Big Smile  Alison

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Thanks, Jane - yep, I've already signed up for "Beat The Boat" - I'm really hoping hubby & 4 kids get a spot on the boat. I got some stff abot it yesterday, but it didn't mention boat spots - I might ring them later! I was going to do RFTK (15.2km this year) but it's the morning after SIL's wedding, so I think I'll give it a miss!    Alison

    Re: Chocaholic's progress report

Hi everyone, just thought I'd drop in. Have been doing the LC thing nfor 2 months now, as well as a dedicated weights program, and cardio, and loving it. I've dropped 9kg and about 5 & 1/2 % body fat on that time, so I'm back down to 59.5kg (yippee!!) and fitting into all my size 8's - even some 6's!!! The weights have really made a difference, I think, as my shape has changed quite significantly, so even though my weight on the scale is not rock bottom, I think I'm actually smaller than I was at the Coldplay concert last year! Hope you guys are all well - TF, kaz, Jane, Lorna & Mel !!! Jane, are you doing Beat The Boat on Sunday??? Hubby & kids all got a ticket to get on the boat, so we're looking forward to it! Take care you guys, Alison

    Low Carb Chocaholic

    Absolutely awesome work Alison!

You know I've pretty much dismissed low carb previously as being too hard to implement in my household, but I don't actually know that much about it really.  I know it's limiting bread, rice, potatoes, pasta and sugar-loaded foods. Yes?

But if you had to give out say, five golden rules about low carb, what would they be?

Good luck for your run, btw, please let us know your times and how you pull up.
