Guys, good luck tomorrow - please let me know how you go!  I can't say I'll be thinking of you, but my thoughts are certainly with you now...not being selfish (have my SF tomorrow for hockey!)

    GOOD LUCK!

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Thanks, mel - it was a gorgeous morning - pretty warm, actually! I caught up with Jane and Lorna quickly beforehand, which was great - didn't know whether we'd find each other in tht sea of people!!Results will be up on the ausrun site at 6pm today, so we'll know our official time then - I forgot to look at the clock in the end, I was concentrating on passing this girl I'd been running behind - *lol*!!!The girl who won the female section was....12 years old!!!!!!!! She did it in about 31:45. I spoke to her afterwards, and she was this tiny little thing ( I think she just glided along, she couldn't weigh anything!!!!!) If she's that good now, imagine when she's older, with the right training, guidance, etc!!!!I asked her if she'd done any other fun runs - this was her third - and YES, she's won them all ( at least for her age, she wasn't sure about overall, but this one definitely was!) Talk about inspiring!Oh, and mel, kaz - you'll be impressed to know that she's also a vegetarian. Her grandma said "I try to get her to eat a bit of meat, but....", but I guess she's doing something right!!!Big Smile [:D] Alison

    Hi Alison,

Thanks for letting us know how it went today.  We were blessed with lovely weather up here on the Central Coast as well.  You gotta love this time of year.

It was gorgeous weather, wasn't it? Well, I thoroughly enjoyed it all! I have new blisters, SO lucky, huh? LOL! I thought I had covered enough places beforehand with band Aids, but shall remember to do more next time!!!!

We did the 8km walk in about 1hr 22 mins, but will definitely go better next time, I won't be recovering from tonsilitis and Lorna plans to train with some interval work to keep up with my giraffe legs! LOL!

So, a GREAT day, and a wonderful introduction to walks for me!

Lol at your Giraffe legs, Jane! I remember reading you referring to yourself as a FREAK on the treadmill!  Too funny. You must be fast!!!!!!

I'm not sure how long we took to do our 8kms.. but we did have a little stop at the half-way point, and enjoyed the scenery. I'm sure Ray has all the figures for our leisurely stroll.

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Just got my official time for the 8km run - 39:32, which I would probably be quite happy with, except for seeing that little dot who won the female section!!!LOL!Lol [lol] Anyway, hoping to go maybe 33 seconds faster in 4 weeks!!! Sorry to hear about your blisters, aussiejane - ouch!!! I didn't get any this time - 'cos I had my flash new Brooks runners on!!!! ( I have to tell myself that, they cost so much!!!) Oh, and Lollylorna, I didn't see your post  about meeting up until just then - SORRY!!!Embarrassed [:$] - glad we bumped into each other anyway!!! My friends and I went and had brunch at a cafe in Fed Square afterwards - did you guys do anything?

Glad to hear you Sydneysiders had a great day, too!Yes [Y]    AlisonBig Smile [:D]

Oh, and I had MY Brooks on, too! I think I am going to stop moisturising the hell outta my feet, they need to be tougher now I am doing so much walking! Do you have any idea how many peope entered the 8km event?

Ray, I obviously have paid no attention, had no idea you even had a walk on! Good stuff!!! How long was your walk?

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

That was the best I could do today, I think.  Sore from the knees down - just had a half hour soak in a Radox bath.  Sleep [|-)]

Next time, Jane can set the pace and I'm going into training so I can chase her down, lol, lots of catch-up-jogs, and we'll make a big improvement on that time.

Fantastic weather and an enjoyable outing.
