Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Not sure if I can make it! i WANT to, but I will be doing so and incurring the wrath of my inlaws, if I do! They have their family Christmas this Sunday, and the amount of crud that has gone down in this family over the past year about BEING a family, I am not sure how brave I am! DH, of course, is happy for me to do the walk, he loves to stir the pot!!! Plus, I am working for the elections, starting 7.30am, ending after the votes are tallied, so that will be another factor, it could be a VERY late night!

    Caution: Sarcastic and Cynical!!!

    Hi Alison,

Jane has a family commitment that she can't get out of, no way, no how.  And as for me, it's my last day before I go back to full time work, so my hearts not in it.  I'll have a chat to dh and see if he wants to do an excursion, drop me off in the city and he can take the kids to the beach, then pick me up again on the way back.

    Weather should be good....

Hey Alison , we're in too, probably - tell us about the U2 concert when we see you.  I saw the Under a Blood Red Sky tour back when I was about 15, and another one about 10 years ago but we can't remember which tour it was...hope to catch you Sunday!

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Oh, Lorna - and Jane - I didn't see that last post till last night, so I assumed you guys weren't going to make it. Beautiful day, wasn't it? How did you go? I ran almost exactly the same time AGAIN!!!! Mind, you, I checked my watch this time, and I thought I was faster than they said - maybe that's just wishful thinking!!!!!

U2 concert was AWESOME!!!!! I actually won tickets ( even though we already had some organised) , so we got wrist bands that got us "this" close to the stage - it was FANTASTIC.........still not as good as my beloved Coldplay, but sensational none the less!!!!!Sorry, it's a long running argument in our house, so I had to put it in there!!!! We also saw them about 18 yrs ago (should I admit that????!!!) when they toured with BB King, and hubby (bf back then- *lol*!) made me wait in the freezing cold after the concert. It was worth it, though, Bono came out and chatted to  the 8 of us who had waited, for about 20 mins or so - he was lovely (and very short!!!!!!)

Anyway, hope you guys had a good race, and no sore body parts! Oh, and are you doing the 10km Sussan fun run next week? I am - and I didn't realize they were on consecutive w/ends!!!!! Surprise  Alison

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

I CAN NOT TELL YOU JUST HOW JEALOUS I AM THAT YOU MET BONO SO EASILY AFTER A CONCERT!!!!!!  But if it can't be me, then I'm glad someone I know did!  Stick out tongue

Well, we didn't go on Sunday after all that.  Jane was all electioned out, and I could have, but opted to spend the day out with the family and we went to the RAAF museum at Point Cook, which was enjoyable and took my mind of returning to work today.

It's great that you are consistently getting good times when you run.  I'm still working at getting my running going and I'll be happy when I break the 8km one hour, not to mention under 40 mins like yourself.  Be loud and proud of that!  Good luck with the 10km next weekend!

Yeah , well, it was FREEEEEEZING cold, it was the middle of July, outside the Tennis Centre, and I can't remember how long we waited, but I'm glad we did - he really was a nice guy - and that accent -to die for!!!!*lol*!!!!(I have a thing about Irish accents.....and Irish names!) But hubby is the mad U2 fan, so he was pretty stoked! You should have seen him at the concert - he was like a big kid - soooo excited - lol! We were lucky- you'd never get anywhere near any of them now, I don't think!Point Cook sounds good- did the kids enjoy it (well, the 5yo!) ?  Alison
