    Hi Jen,

Sounds like you've got your head rightl if you're wishing your trainer will push you harder. It is important to get the right trainer for you.

    Go hard!

    Re: 21/8/07

Funny you should mention that.. My old PT sent me a text yesterday telling me that her and another PT are going to be doing outdoor sessions either at Queens Park or Centennial Park.  So for 1hr, she will be kicking my butt.  It's pretty cheap at $20.  They aim to have 15 people each session where 7 will start with cardio and the others will do weights and vice versa.  I also plan on doing one-on-one sessions with her at FF.  She's gonna give me some free passes so I can go check out the classes etc.  She told me that the Maroubra FF is now delayed and won't be opening till Nov 29 which is ashame but since that is the case, I don't think I can stay where I am.  I'm not enjoying it, there's no motivation and I can never do the classes I want to do cuz there on Mondays and Tuesday nights (and I have Tafe). I'm finding the whole cardio / weights boring as there is limited machines and obviously no variety.  Okay there's my rant...

Well my aim yesterday was to have no choc almonds.  Well looks that didn't work out.  Had in the night after Tafe, toobs chips (shared with bf), choc almonds ... I've told my bf that we cannot buy these anymore since I have no self control - silly isn't it.

Oh well.. hope all is well.  Will go to the gym today and do a light session, shoulders and back sore.

    Jen

    Hi Jen,

Those sessions sound great. There is plenty you can do with cardio and weights, you just need to think outside the usual (boring) formats that most people use. You will really have to check out my book (lol), as it will have plenty of those in there. Although by the time it's out you'll be happily working away at FF!

Awaiting the books arrival Ray .. when is that likely to be??

Yeah, I know I need to think outside the square but when I've had these injuiries that both impact my legs and shoulders (bit hard to work around it).  Feeling all better now.  I think it might be the step attack classes and using weights.  I normally do use weights for certain tracks but I think since the tracks are now faster, the movements are too quick and I might be injurying myself from this.  On Sat I did the step attack class with no weights and haven't felt sore yet.

Had an awesome weekend, all I did was catch up with old friends for coffee, dinner and lunch ... So was nice and relaxing.

    Hi Jen!

Just wanted to offer a "me too" on the injury thing. It is BLOODY hard to find things to do! and the bigger challenge for me is things I ENJOY that are not an issue. Hang in there!

    Re: 29/8/07

    Hey all,

Jane, Yeap, injuries are a pain but working thru it.  Its not too bad at the moment.

Mel, hopefully in a couple of weeks.  I so need my butt to be whipped and she is the woman to do it.  I've noticed I've lost the muscle tone and all my strength since not training with her which is ashame.  I told her how I had all these ailments etc and she said that I wasn't the only one from the gym experiencing injuries, so perhaps we are doing some exercises incorrectly or just targeting other areas that we don't normally do.  I really can't wait to do it.  I do enjoy it (who said that) and love that I feel the burn afterwards.  I just need to be focused and get back to shape.  At least I haven't put on any weight.

So whats been happening with me.  Well apart from Tafe on Mondays + Tuesdays (which is a bit annoying), life has been pretty good.  Received our dinning table last thursday (looks a beaut).  Over the weekend had a really good time. Caught up with an old friend for lunch at my place and then went out for dinner with some friends who I haven't seen since her wedding.  Then on the Sunday went to Coogee Bay for lunch and drinks for a farewell.  So obviously no studying here but was most enjoyable.  Now the sad thing is that I have to do some major studying as I have exams on Sept 10 and have so much to go through.  Bugger, should have started earlier but you know what its like to procrasinate.....

Exercise - Been going at least 3 times a week.  That's all I can manage at the moment with my workload etc

Food - Has been relatively good except for the minor hiccup into Maccas last nite.  wen't to see the lunar eclipse down at coogee beach and was so hungry after Tafe and coogee that we popped thru drive thru and had large chips and apple pie.  But that's out of my system now, so its ok.

Well thanks for popping in and hope you all are well.

    Jen

    Re: 29/8/07

Well seems like I am slowly getting back on track.

Went to the gym last nite for 1hr.  Did the following:

    • 20mins tready - level 6 for about 10mins then short intervals of running at 9.5 then back down to 5 and so on...
    • 10mins xtrainer - various levels
    • weights - 30mins

I can honestly say that I was so bored of the cardio last night that 30mins was all I could bear.

Food, well yesterday was a slight hiccup of lollies and only a hand full of klinkers - why? cuz I am absolutely bored at work.  I have done everything that I need to do.... so hopefully things will pick up soon.

I plan I going to the gym tonight, only for 30 mins as I have to do grocery shopping and do a few other things, so at least the intention is there to go, hopefully I do.

    Heya Jen,

How you going? I understand what your saying about getting bored on the cardio! I just got myself a new ipod a few weeks (maybe months) ago that has been a huge help! everytime b4 when I used to go to gym I would just listen to their music! Not anymore!! lol

    Have a great weekend!

    Re: 29/8/07

    Hey ya Nat,

Yeah all is going well.  Been busy with Tafe (2 nights a week - Monday and Tuesdays which is a bugger).  Totally getting bored with cardio but will soldier on.  Once my exams are over in by end of next week, I will meet up with my PT and then change gyms I think.  Need stimulation!!! When I go to the gym I either plug my headset to watch TV (we have personal TV's on our machines with fox) or I put my mp3 on.  Whichever suits at the time.

So tonight I am going to the gym after not going since Saturday.  Sunday couldn't go, had to study hard and well Monday + Tuesday are Tafe days and the day is so long already that I just can't handle it going to the gym in the morning, not to mention I'm so not a morning person.

    Plan of attack for tonight:

    • 20 mins tready
    • 20 - 30mins spin bike
    • 30 mins weights

Ok, better go.  Have a bit of work to do...

    Jen

    Re: 29/8/07

    Well I did ...

    • 20mins Intervals - 5kpm - 9.5kpm
    • 10mins bike - speed of 5
    • 30mins weights
    • Abs - 100 crunches w/ 3kg medicine ball
    • 20 reverse crunches

Wanted to use the spin bike but there were people in there doing something  -  bugger!

Plan on going tonite, but not for long as we need to do the grocery shopping.

But on the brighter side, we do have tomorrow off thanks to APEC but I will be too busy studying away!

I'm sooooo glad APEC is in Sydney!  I can remember when Bush Snr came to Melbourne and the old World Trade Centre had SWAT teams on the roof and security checks in and out...and I remember a blonde colleague saying,  Who's George Bush?, how can anyone be that sheltered that you don't know who an American President is?  Now, if they would just let Australian's vote in their election!

As for cardio boredom, I have a good daydream, think about something else and usually before I know it, times up!

    Re: 12/09/07

Well its been a while since I've last posted but glad at least Monday is over.

Over the long weekend I had to study cuz I had a major exam worth 40%. So on Friday did no exercise, just studying and eating (but not loads of crap like I usually do - so that was good).  Saturday I went to my usual step attack class and Sunday no exercise - had my last minute cramming.  Anyway, hopefully I did well in the exam - was very difficult and not much time to do all the questions.

So I spoke with my old PT last nite and well I have a training session with her at FF come next Wednesday.  I was saying how there is not much enthusiam at Fernwood now that she has gone and how all the hard work we did together has been mostly lost as I had injuries and then exams etc.  So that's a bit dissapointing but she said to be prepared to work hard next wednesday and the session now goes for 1hr at $40 - so bugger me, an extra 1/2hr of grueling exercise.  Plus she is starting group outdoor sessions at $20 for 1hr which is great.  So in no time I should be back on track.

    So plan for this week:

Wednesday:  Cardio (30mins) and Weights (30 mins)

Thursday: No gym - hair appt (well and truly overdue)

Friday: No gym - going out for dinner for a reuinion - might see if I can go for a quick walk with the bf before dinner.

Saturday:  Well I can't say other than shopping for something noice! - so lots of walking and perhaps a walk in the arvo.

    Sunday:  Gym - 1hr

    Mon + Tuesday - Tafe

Wednesday: My hard session at F/F for 1hr or more
