Well its been a while since my last post. Anyway, I'm back now. Christmas & NYE was good but so busy with work, hence no time to post here. Even now I should be working but thought I would quickly take the time to start all over again. Anyway, so time to get back to basics. The last few weeks have been nothing but crap eating and its just not good enough any more. At least there was only a 1kg gain so not too bad i suppose. So back to writing in a food journal and going to gym tonight after what seems like an eternity since I last went. I think I went the Friday before Christmas. Wowee, that's a long time ago. Couldn't go last week cuz I still had to work and it was so busy here being 1 person short, that by the time i was ready to leave, I was so exhausted and I also had a friend staying with me from QLD. So NEWS. I've bought a wedding dress. Very impressed with my bargain buy. My dress was on sale from $1430 to $500 - not bad. Need alterations cuz wait for it, its too big (granted it is a size 22 but still, never thought I would say that). Plus I got the cap sleeves as its a strapless dress (so add $200 for that.) Cant believe how expensive those sleeves were. Really there not sleeves but think sheer straps with some beads on it... outrageous the charges of these sorts of items but it makes the dress and considering all the other dresses were above 1300 + alterations, I think not bad at all. So I have till Mid April till my next fitting, so time to lose some fat. We have the reception booked for June 28th, 2 days before my 30th birthday and I know my family will flip cuz they have no idea. Am so bursting to tell them, but I think the reaction on the day will be great!! Anyway, hope you are all doing well. Hopefully I can get back on here sometime this week before my boss goes away for 2 weeks next week (not looking forward to that). Take care Jen

Well, Lets recap from Monday. Didn't go to gym cuz had to go grocery shopping and didn't leave work till after 5:30, and by the time we got home and unpacked all the groceries, it was 9pm. Did do 50 situps as I felt guilty for not going (weird hey). Tuesday was a girls night out that we had planned for a while. It involved a few cocktails followed by a movie (2 days in Paris - very funny, highly recommend) and had 100g pkt smiths original chips to soak the alcohol and a late thai dinner (had satay chicken with rice, but not much cuz I was full but needed a main meal). So obviously, not starting off good but that is all going to change. Starting today WEDNESDAY, is the launch to the fabulous new me! Both a friend and I have come up with a plan. We decided that we need to exercise at a minimum of 4 times a week for 45mins and drink 1LTR of water a day otherwise each week we will need to put away $20 each week that we don't do the above. The only exception is when its TTOTM as we both suffer badly and can't move. If we any money put away, we will nominate a charity and will donate the money to them. Only fair as we can't reward ourselves for bad behaviour and at least we set realistic goals for achievement around our busy schedules. So Today is DAY 1. Meeting up with another friend at the gym tonight, so that should be painful as I have been since before chrissy. Tried to call my PT for the last couple of days, but her phone is not working so hopefully will see her around. Saturday some friends and I are going dress shopping for my witness (civil ceremony). God bless her she tried so hard to get out of it but alas I remember late last night whilst discusing us all going out for Afternoon Tea at QVB. So Beautiful there, so relaxing. That won't be so bad actually in terms of health, as very portionally controlled that's for sure. Anyway, better do some work. Take care, hope I didn't bore you. Jen

Well the last couple of days have gone good so far. Went to gym on wed + thursday. Did 30mins cardio and about 45mins weights targetting both arms and legs. Slowly building muscle but doesn't take long to lose it all (bugger!!). I have noticed that I am getting cramps lately. In my calf muscle and in my feet. I reckon its got to do with my shoes for my feet but the calf muscle, I don't know... Any idea's on helping to solve this will help. Haven't had full on cramp's since I was a teenager... Am planning a light walk tonight (TTOTM) and tomorrow is a packed day with bridesmaids dress shopping and then off to Afternoon Tea at QVB (yeah). Anyway, busy busy busy... must go. Jen

well its been a busy few weeks whilst the boss was away. Long hours meant I couldn't go to the gym as often as I would like. I did still manage to go for a few days which isn't bad. Have just come back from a PT Session where we worked arms (my weakest part). So now they feel sore but tomorrow is when the real pain sets in... bugger Anyway, back 2 reality next week as the boss is back (yeah). So I will be able to go to the gym more often. Now to work on the food side of things. I always struggle with this. Better go... Doesn't feel like Australia Day today. Actually today is my fiance and I anniversary week (i say anniversary week cuz we both don't remember when we started going out but do remember having our Australia Day festivities 9 years ago - how time flies by). take care Jen

So its been a weird week or so. I've been reading the book Kaz has recommended and finding it really interesting. I know I have a long way to go. Example: Last nite after eating dinner (still need to learn the art of eating slowly) I found myself thinking do I want ice-cream. Ordinarily I would say no and certainly with no topping on it. But then the thought came into my mind "I can have it if I want it, but do I really want it", something from the book. I thought about it but I was still full from dinner. Now you would think, I would not have it, but I did. So I had the ice-cream and the chocolate topping, but did I really enjoy it. Some part of me says yes and the other part says no. I didn't feel too guilty (I know I shouldn't feel guilty but after years of teaching yourself "Bad" and "Good" foods, you just can't help it. So I am hoping with time this will be resolved. Also, I've taken to not weighing myself which is not too bad. It reminds me of this comedian Ed Byrnes (irish fella, very funny) who made a joke how when he moved in with his girlfriend, he had to all of a sudden get things he never had, one being a set of scales. He made a few wise cracks about having a scale at home and how he never/didn't need one at home, but when at other people's places, that's one of the things he would try if they had it in the bathroom. Anyway, so I finally measured myself on the weekend and hope to do it every 2 weeks. Gym seems to be going okay. Went on Sat for 1hr PT session, Monday for 1hour. The plan for the rest of the week is to go today for 1hour, Thursday go for a walk with bf, Saturday for a class, sunday - class?

So I've been finding ways of making excuses not to go to the gym - mostly due to the weather. It hasn't been all too bad. I went on Sunday, bailed yesterday but did a morning workout at home today but plan on going this arvo. I always get affected by the weather, especially when its raining heavily. I need to stop making these excuses and just do it! Anyway, so today is Shrove Tuesday and not that I need an excuse to have pancakes, I told Brendan that I would. Probably not the wisest of things but we won't be having dinner to compensate. Food hasn't been too bad. Still having my biscuits with my tea and a few lollies here and there (mostly hormonal) but overall it hasn't been too bad. Can't wait till Friday cuz I will be on 1 weeks holidays - woo hoo. So excited. Granted I have lots of running around to do in prep for wedding plans (can't believe we are in Feb already - 5 months away - CRAP!). Better get back to work. Jen

Happy 'anniversary' Jen! Sounds like you are keeping on with it all. Yes,it's hard to exercise when the weather is against you ..bloody hot over here atm! I hope your muscles sort themselves out. I have trouble with my feet, toes, leg muscles..it's always something. Last time I got new joggers it caused all sorts of issues! Yes, I did the Athlete's Foot thing as well! Maybe we should just exercise in bare feet!! Hope you're enjoying your wedding plans! How exciting! Mmmm, pancakes today eh? I see on the calendar that it's also (Mardi Gras) Fat Tuesday!!? Is that a cruel twist of fate! or just bad joke? Enjoy your week of holis next week :)

Well I had my first study session (7 more to go) in the lead up to my national exam and all I can say is "F*********CK! I have so much work to go through its not funny. I have no idea how on earth we are suppose to get 70% and over to be able to pass. I can't believe everything we have learnt in the last 2.5yrs is nothing compared to what we are learning now. The lecturer said that we should be averaging between 20 - 30hrs of extra study per week if you want to pass. What the?!? How on earth is this possible with full-time work. So lets see shall we ... - 8hrs sleep * 7days = 56hrs
- 40hrs full-time work
- 10hrs travelling time for work and any unexpected delays etc
- 30hrs studying
- 7hrs study session
- which equals 143hrs. Then factor this and I'm left with 25hrs p/w or 3.5hrs per day to eat/gym/rest ... seems so unrealistic
So obviously I'm going to be swamped and I still have stuff to do for the wedding - bugger! One of the girls in our class is due to give birth on friday, so how on earth she will be able to cope, I have no idea. I know its pressure, but you could say time and the lack of knowledge also impacts on pressure. I guess I will go with the flow and take breaks when needed but already I can feel the tension and am turning to bad foods - why? Its there and its easy/quick and i need things that are quick. I know, more of those excuses .... when will the cycle ever turn in my favour and release all those bad energies. So if anyone has any idea's on how to cope with time and fit gym, life etc, that would be great cuz at the moment my mind is mush. Also, for any of you technical people out there, here is a question for you: How to convert 100 boxes measuring 12" * 8" * 3.6" / weighing 167.92lb per box to cubic metres and volumetric weight. God bless you if you can come up with the answer as its doing my head in. Unless I have heard incorrectly in class, they said the answer was 6.6cbm and 7617kg. 1 cbm = 1000kg Okay, I've vented for now but thank god I organised early in the week to go for dinner. Gonna need a stiff drink! Cheers and thanks for letting me vent Jen

Mass seems ok but the volume is about 10X too big Volume in M cube is abut 0.3x.02x0.09 per box It seems a very dense material such as lead. Can you sneak some holidays/sick days or other leave from work?

Hi Don, Thanks for replying to the cbm question. I worked out what I was doing incorrectly. I wrote down the figures incorrectly and the last one shouldn't have been 3.6" but rather 3 ' 6" - 3 foot 6 inches - silly mistakes that cost me time. Oh well, guess I won't be doing that again. As for leave from work, too hard - work in a small office of 3. I might closer to my final exam take a couple of days off for some last minute cramming but I am going to try and do some at work. Last night did a 45 mins workout - step attack (without the step though) - lots of body combat moves that I love.

JDC: been 3.6" but rather 3 ' 6" - 3 foot 6 inches -
Can I make some sort of Freudian reply that 3.6 inches is a lot smaller than 3 foot 6 inches (42 inches) On a more serious note all I can suggest is to convert everything to a base unit before your try manipulating things (is this Freud again?) Eg 1’2” becomes 14 inches 1 yard 1 foot 2 and a quarter inches becomes 50.25 inches 300mm becomes 0.3m HTH Don

Re: Dusting off the Journal
Well I'm back. Gee its been a while. Have been really busy with the exams/wedding situation. So results came back and I failed, boo... but due to all the problems within the exams, they are offering us to sit the exam for free. Only problem, can't study for it as I go to Hawaii (honeymoon) and then come back the week of the exam, so again - will be a fail but oh well, its for free. Anyway, the surprise wedding is coming along. Not long now (June 28th). Only interstate and my dad knows. So much drama's have been happening though amongst this. My dad went into hospital with chest pain (all ok for now) and then the same day my brother who is only 44 went into hospital with a heart attack and a mild stroke. I think he overdid it cuz he referee'd 7 games (4 of them premier and under 21yrs games) on the saturday and then another 3 the next day. Needless to say he just did too much. So he now his taking it easy waiting for the clot in his brain to shrink (yes they did determine he had one - at least he could joke about it) and then we will have an angigram. So time will tell. Then a couple of days ago I found out that my other brother is getting a divorce. Talk about a shocking couple of months, just should of elope!!! Any D-day is around the corner. Can't say I've lost any weight. If anything due to my exams etc I put on weight (very smart - not). So I finally lost that and am sitting around 84kg. Would be happy if I could lose a few more before the wedding but who knows. Any tips would be really appreciative... I have started back with PT and gym (albeit not as much as I was before just because its so cold and yes I am lazy - maybe not lazy, just a really good procrastinator). Off on 3 weeks holidays from 23/6/08 and I can hardly wait. Hawaii and warm weather here we come and not to mention the 4th of July and all the good / cheap shopping we can do. I got told that you can expect to pay at least one-third of what we pay, so yeah!!! Anyway, better get back to work. Hope u are all doing well. Will catch up with peoples journals soon. Jen
