    120.4

Saturday went to the pool in the morning 18 laps (900m) in the first hour  and a total of 24 laps in 1hour 25 min. felt a bit tired but seemed ok after a few hours.

Monday got on the scales 120.4 Kg down 1.1 kg for the week considering the binge on the fruit bread things could have been worse.

Looked at my old recordings today 117.4 was the lightest I got down to in the last year with 3 weeks to go until the surgery I hope to get below this weight

Did some gardening and went swimming Monday  managed 18 laps in the first hour seemed more of a struggle I think the hour of activity made a difference got a total of 28 laps (1400m) and had had enough arms and shoulders seemed quite sore. At least my legs are fine. Feel like I got some sun as well.

Seem to be spending a lot less time resting and more time swimming now.

I am still one of the slowest in the slow lane but I do stay in the pool a lot longer than most people.

Tuesday the sunburn wasn’t too bad but it was a warning to be more careful.

    4.2

No the 4.2 is nothing to do with my weight loss it was my cholesterol result previously it was about 8.5 it has only taken about 10 visits to the specialist over 2.5 years to get it under control.

Lost another 1.5 kg this week now 118.9 generally it has been a good week as far as the weight loss is concerned.

2 weeks until the banding and my uni exam is this afternoon.

    Am I turning hard core?

I got up at 5:15 this morning to go swimming.

I never seem to find time in the evening.

    Getting up early to exercise?

Perhaps it is some sort of mid life crisis!

I suppose exercise is a much cheaper and simpler thing to do for ones mid life crisis compared to taking a mistress.

I was surprised the pool was the busiest I have ever seen it.

Did 22 laps (1100m) in the first hour it seems to be getting more all the time but I am still one of the slowest people but I suppose steady improvement is a good start at the moment.

Presently I don’t have the best hydrodynamic shape compared to many of the swimmers.

Did a total of 26 laps and got out of the pool to head home to get Phillip to school.

By 7:30AM the pool seemed quiet.

I must admit that optifast seems to give little in the way of relief from hunger.

Re: Am I turning hard core?

    You make me laugh, Don!

I think your doing really well with all the swimming, once you have been banded, too, imagine the melting there will be going on!

Optifast seems, by general consensus, to be a most unpleasant existance! How long will you have been on it for by the time you have the surgery?

    Caution: Sarcastic and Cynical!!!

Re: Am I turning hard core?

I know that the hunger thing is a hard one to beat with optifast... do try to drink as much water as you can. peppermint tea is also helpful to stave off those hunger pains. i found after a few weeks i didn't notice the hunger anymore, i was on it for 6 months, so it does get better. however i do know of people who struggle with it, and it could be a good time to chat to your doctor about something like reductil to help supress the hunger. as you know, not a fan, having tried everything when it comes to fat drugs, but it could be something that helps in the short term. definitely worth a chat with your doc, though.

could you perhaps eat an apple if it gets too unbearable? i found that having some fibrous fruit when it got a bit much to help. given that an apple has maybe 50 calories, it's not a deal breaker

Re: Am I turning hard core?

My surgeon had prescribed 6 weeks of optifast I am allowed 2 cups of non starchy vegetables as well.

I must admit I haven’t found the optifast too bad I suppose the decision is do you prefer the food and being fat or the optifast and loosing weight?

I must admit the hunger has past this morning I suppose the thing is to resist the temptation.

Re: Am I turning hard core?

yep, resisting temptation is hard but worth it. 1 cup of vegies is approx 100 calories, so 200 calories for 2 cups. the optifast itself comes to errr if i remember around 460 calories. given it's an 800 calorie thing, an apple certainly won't blow it, but of course you wouldn't eat 5 apples in a day either. as a once off, it's definitely a better choice than the fruit bread ;) - and you could always count it towards your 2 cups of vegie allowance.

    hang in there
