chocaholic:, realising that babies turn into CHILDREN - AAARGHHH...
There is a rumour they eventually turn into adults if this happens at their 25 or 45 birthday will depend on many things.

I went to my GP after my first son (the emergency) at about 6 weeks and suggested to him that I had PTSD as I kept reliving the labour and caesarean over and over, and was really disappointed like Mother Nature had let me down. He referred me to a psych and with her and $80 later came out feeling like I'd been patronised to, as to everything I said, she said, "that must have been tough for you", like a standard response. I really wanted some good old-fashioned advice about how to move on. Anyway, I started getting out more and the more mums I spoke to who'd had caesars, the better I felt. My gf had twins at 30 weeks, one 2lb 12 and one 3lb 6, and a helicopter ride to the city! Someone's always got the one-up!! I was tempted to try for a VBAC for the second one, but listened to sound advice from this same gf and opted to not risk anything going wrong again, and take an elective caesar. The doctors don't argue and the midwives didn't give me any flak either. The only midwife issues I had was difficulty breastfeeding the second (strangely enough, the first was ok) and getting a stroppy know-it-all nurse lose patience with me. "Just do it like this!!!!" Grrr. God it hurts when it goes wrong! But at least the lactation unit was helpful and kind. Eventually one of the midwives doing the home visit (I got two visits because I was freaking mess! normally there's only one) gave my second one a bottle of expressed which is really rare for them to do, but I'm so glad she did, because it allowed some pressure off me, made me feel better, and I ended up breastfeeding him longer than the first one, and he was fed more satisfactorily, in my opinion. One of my school mums is a Grade 1 maternity nurse at a nearby private hospital. She'd be great at it I'd imagine! Very positive and encouraging. Hormonally, my gf and I know I'm awful for about two weeks, just a big wet drip, but should settle down. If I don't, I'm not going to struggle with it, I'll go see my doc and insist on some sort of help. Not just so I can function, but that depressed atmosphere is horrible for kids to be in, and naturally young ones are the centre of their own universe, so as soon as somethings wrong with you, they think they are to blame, and I don't want that. And it's just not necessary to struggle. Mum was released last night about 7pm after about half a litre of fluids. She seems pretty ok, bit pale today but able to do everything and enjoyed playing with the toddler. 6yo has an exciting show and tell today!! His asthma was pretty wretched last night. Did shopping this morning, didn't eat any crap. Oh yeah...I've boycotted ACA and TT in this house, we switch over to ABC in that timeslot, because I won't be subjected to such crap like what they dish out. Also, Today & Sunrise in the mornings can be just as bad! And to think that journalists are the third most trusted profession!!!! They're like used car salesmen, in my opinion, totally sold out their integrity!

Been a while between posts. We've been in lockdown from the heat, but it's nearly over....here are my highlights! We went out for dinner to Zagames in Boronia on Sat night (my b'day present) - it was packed out, kids go feral (made mine look weirdly well-behaved!). There was a $30 meal deal which had two of three courses that dh wanted (scotch fillet and choc mousse) and I took the entree which was oysters kilpatrick 6. And I had a prawn and avacado salad with lime and sweet chilli dressing which was very fresh and not oily at all. I skipped dessert and had a cappacino which came with a small choc cookie. Been eating icypoles like no-one's business. Three mums and one male teacher completely shaved their heads for leukemia research at school assembly this morning.

I'm so relieved that the weather is a more comfortable mid-20's. 6yo has had a mild asthmatic cough during this hot stretch, not enough to use ventolin but it does bother him, so the rain we get tomorrow will settle that down hopefully. Toddler is still going exceptionally well at kinder, just leaps and bounds. we had a picnic at a fenced playground in boronia this morning. He chased the ducks (they were perfectly safe!), the ducks went under the fence, so he gave it a go, and got under the fence on his tummy! It was a gap of about 8 to 10 inches. We had tied up a faulty gate, not wanting any children to get away unnoticed, so I had to untie the gate and chase him before he got to the pond! Actually, I was quietly impressed with his display of gross motor skills!

Hi Alison, I read about your face, hope that goes down soon and isn't a post-procedure infection or something - ouch! I'm going to start referring to my family by name now, because I feel I can. My DH is Andy and it's his birthday tomorrow. My 6yo is Lachlan. And the toddler is Cameron. The baby is going to be 'baby' until we decide on the name. Feeling ok, tired by midday and need to spend 30mins or so on the couch, doing nothing. Rarely have a nap, but will have to start that soon. fortunately I get about 9 hours sleep at night.

No, my face is fine - ugly, but fine!!!! I'm on ABs, as a preventative measure, and I'm not in any pain at all, today, but the inside and a bit of the outside of my lip are dark purple, and the right side is still swollen - as I said, it doesn't hurt today! Yay for this cool weather - I was thinking of you at school pick up time, thinking you'd be enjoying this!!! You should maybe collapse on the couch every day at 1 and watch Oprah if you can- that way you know you'll be sitting for an hour! Can't wait to hear 'baby's' name - I STILL read the birth notices, just to see what people are calling their children.......Chris Martin still takes the cake.....Apple....what a shocker - the poor child, apple of her father's eye, I guess (still no excuse!!!) Alison
Nothing tastes as good as feeling slim & healthy.....not even chocolate!!!

Andy came up with a potential name last night but we'll keep that under wraps for now. I had a few easter eggs, but nothing crazy. Had my check up with the GP today, she didn't have any suggestions for my restless legs syndrome, just some stretching before bed, which I'll try - looping a towel and pushing it away from me with my foot. I've been so itchy and twitchy at night that it interferes with my sleep, although sometimes I wake about 4am-ish and find its gone. I think it's fluid retention related. My BP was 120/70 which was good to know. All fine. Still trying to figure out how to squeeze three critters into the backseat of the '93 Falcon, seats go in but can't get the eldest to do up seatbelt cos we can't reach it between the seats. You can get seat belt extensions but not for before 1996 models. Looks like we'll have to put him in a H-harness in the middle (he's 7 in 8 weeks and 25kgs).

Yes, I know! Pretty sure my Mum will wrinkle her nose at this name. Just not saying it becuase we might change our mind - I do that a lot! Seating has been Lachlan in a hipod because he's tall and light and the hipod has an adjustable height - very fond of mine. I kind of wanted to keep them in seats as long as possible. Cameron is in a convertible car seat which will go to the baby, particularly as he's nearly at the height limit for that, so he's going into a Maxi-Rider with the 5point harness. So if Lachlan stays in the hipod, he can't get his hand between the seats to clip in his buckle. Something like the Protecta harness in the rear middle, as long as the lap is nice and tight, is probably the way I'll go. Because there's so much shuffling, I might go to restraint fitter.

Oh, yes, the car seat shuffle! WSe had 3 in the back, but we were lucky, in the States there was a highback booster with WIDTH adjustability! We had that, a baby seat and a maxi rider, all across the back of a Ford Escort wagon! And you STILL had to kind of lug the booster out to plug in the belt, and yep, it drove us INSANE! We had that until Zac was 1, Amy Rose was 3 and Josh 5! Good luck!!!!!!!!!

Argh the car seat thingy is a thorn! I bought a H harness for $40 then had a bash at installing it but I wasn't happy with it so I went to a proper installer and paid $25 to find I'm just not happy with how it sits on him, and Lachlan doesn't like it either. So went back this morning to Baby Bunting and got a SafeFit thingy which makes the lap sash belt sit properly and we'll just go with that, he's happy and I'm happier with how it sits. But man, all that farting about! We've got the paediatrician this arvo which is usually a stress event for me, however normally I'd be worrying at least a week or two prior to the appointment, I didn't find myself stressing until last night, so that's an improvement of sorts. Really there's nothing to be worried about because it's forward steps, but because I'm a mum, I worry. I'm still adoring the cooler weather and not sweating excessively whilst doing next to nothing. To look at me, I'm at that 'bloody hell, she must be due soon' stage! I think I failed to mention that I actually had a nap on the weekend while Andy was working on the truck right beside my open window, screechingly blunting drill bits trying to atttach a water tank under the tray. Now that's tired!

It's sooo good when a child restraint fits well, Ray. I'm getting out for a walk with my headphones on later because I need some solo 'me' time. Kids are rubbing each other the wrong way which is rubbing me. So it's either go for a walk or run away from home!!!
