    Hi from central west NSW

    Hi

I'm approaching 40 (still a couple of years to go Stick out tongue) but I'm concerned about my weight gain and total lack of fitness. For the most part, my diet isn't too bad (admittedly I can make improvements!) and I do try and limit the 'wrong' foods and eat healthily. My problem is lack of exercise! I don't have the money or the desire to join a gym - I've never been the sporty type - I know walking is good for me and I have exercise DVDs but finding the time and the energy to do that is soooo hard! I work full time (have an office job), study part time, have three children (two of which are teeneagers - one with a disability) and a husband that is self employed so I do his bookwork too. I had planned on walking at least 3km per day (we have a property with walking trails) but I fractured my ankle back in January. So, this has meant I haven't been able to do anything! Swimming is out for me (long boring story) so I'm trying to work out what I can do! I have started walking again but after just over 1km my ankle aches and swells again so that is pretty limited too. I have an 'Ab King Pro' which is an expensive shelf at the moment! LOL Maybe I will get motivated to start using it. So, apart from keeping an eye on eating habits, I'm looking for some exercise ideas that incorporate my bad ankle (which is still in the healing process)!

    Cheers
    Karen

    Hi Karen,

There is still plenty you can do. We have a number of exercises (with photos with descriptions). Or you may want to try boxing.

With your foot, try icing it after all activity, whether you feel you need to or not. The best way to do it is place enough water in a bucket to cover ankle height, then place 1/4 bag of ice in there. Put your foot in for 10 minutes, then take it out for15 minutes. Repeat this a couple of times.
