    Back on the Horse...

    hellooooo

thanks for dropping by ruby! i had a lovely couple of days in qld at coolum with felicity - got to starfish on the beach, starfish by the pool, starfish on the bed, starfish on the couch... you get the idea! i've still got the faintest hint of a tan that i managed to pick up (i'm very pale, and i'm probably only a shade or two darker, but it's awesome LOL)

i've been a busy girlie, but haven't had a chance to really post til now.

i'm currently at the gym 3 x days a week, doing a min of 30 minutes cardio followed by a min 1 hour training session, which is full on and wonderful. i also do a 4th day of training with elise, which is more centred on stretching & flexibility as opposed to the fat burning & weight training. i'm trying to walk a little where possible.

    however.
i saw my sports surgeon last week following up on my xrays & ultrasounds.
i have a cysty-like tumory thing in my plantar fascia (i have plantar fasciitis too)... it's causing a tonne of pain, and first up we're treating it with a cortisone injection, otherwise if that doesn't work, i'll need surgery on it.

doc also wants to perform an arthroscope & release the ligament on my patella, as that tightness is causing all the crunching & grinding and so on. there's gunk to be cleaned out, and it has a massive heal time, so i'm holding off on that for the short term, and focussing on losing weight to make the heal time & encourage a more successful treatment.

my hips, well i have hip dysplasia, cysts and fluid in the hip socket as well as loads of cartilage damage. doc wants to stick me in traction & do a hip arthroscope also. this too will be held off as long as possible. the dislocating of the hips is a major pain (literally) and causes me legs to feel they are giving way at times, and just pure chronic agony the rest of the time. eventually i'll probably need a hip replacement, but hopefully not for a long long time.

my sister was born with hip dysplasia, and had surgery when she was a baby. my dad didn't have it discovered until he was 50 and needed to have both hips replaced. hopefully now we know what's causing my pain, we can manage it and sort it out before even more damage is done.

in the meantime, i'm just focussing on being the fittest i can be, and to keep moving, because that is all i can do. in terms of my food intake, i'm being extremely aware without going into my previous modes of all or nothing. balance balance balance.

at least now i know i'm not going crazy, not making excuses, not "faking my pain" as one friend suggested...

    loads of hugs

    Re: Back on the Horse...

Did you slap that friend???? I hate idiots like that.

Is it a lateral release he is suggesting? I had one of those years ago, have to say I did not get alot of improvement from it, but I think the surgeon in questionh "over operates" IYKWIM? I don't think I needed it, really! I had the cortisone shots in my heel, and had MASSIVE success with those, so good luck! Not fun at the time, but I am glad I had it done, it was 8 yrs ago and I have not had ANY issues since!

Glad you had fun with Felicity! Sounds like a bright spot you needed!

    Re: Back on the Horse...

had my first procedure of the kaz upgrade 07 done today.

cortisone injection into the cysty thing in my plantar fascia.
well, he didn't just inject the cortisone. he did what's apparently called a puncture release, where he basically punctured the cyst & the plantar fascia with a 21 gauge needle to help release it and hopefully promote healing. instead of 3ish days of post-cortisone flare pain, it will be more likely up to 8-10 days and THEN i should be brand new.

currently my foot is a bit throbby (still under the throes of post-anaesthetic happiness - pain at a minimum so far) and heavily bandaged and i'm a bit hobbly as it's still numb and feels like i'm wearing lead boots. handy if i was link in zelda playing underwater.

    anyhoooo

all a bit much. review in 2 months time. hoping this will bring ease of pain.

    kaz xx

    Re: Back on the Horse...

Hello!  I read your other post about the first episode.  I hope you've been able to sleep and feel a little more rested.  If you didn't know, Amber was voted off the red team.  She was the one who'd come last in the race to catch the parachuting trainers, if you saw that bit.

    Sending good vibes...

    Re: Back on the Horse...

thanks for that lorna! i didn't see the race bit either, i came in at the weigh in towards the end. guess i watched maybe 20 minutes?!

i slept a bit last night, which was nice. today i'm "trying" to stay off my foot & rest it, but i've had a couple of visitors today, so no worries. i also sat outside & painted the picnic table, which it was in sore need of doing. at least the heat has already dried it & i did a second coat, so that's finished.

i'm about to curl back up on my bed with a book and hope that no one drops in this afternoon!

    luv kaz x

Hope the book is a good one, Kaz! Take it easy, can you do YOUR painting sitting down? I do love your stuff, I checked out your website ages ago..............

    Re: Back on the Horse...

hi lovely i've actually read about 4 books in the last couple of days. not sleeping friday night i finished 2 off. julian clary's murder most fab - excellent read!

thanks for the kind words about my work. i'm hoping to get more pics up there in the coming weeks - just waiting on my photographer to get them shot. then i need to get prints made so i can hook up some gigs at galleries. fingers crossed.

the table outside is great now - i managed to sit and paint it. just had a shower so don't feel so skanky. freaked out tho when the bandage & wrapping came off the wound - didn't expect the big hole in my foot from the needle, tho i did expect the bruise. ouch!

oh and i can indeed do my painting sitting down. i've had to the last few weeks anyway, which is a new experience for me, because i've had so much paining. once i'm fully recovered should be back to normal, fingers crossed.

    luv kaz xx
