LOL, Don, Lap Banding will do that for you! I was at the gym as it opened this morning, 8am. I did my running intervals, increased the intensity, then went and did weights and squats. Then I felt really awful, giddy and queasy. It was horrible! I went and sat in the lounge area and drank my water, but ended up having to call it quits. I guess I learned that I should have eaten first? I NEVER usually go and work out before brekky, so that is all I can think of that was different, apart from the change to the intervals, which I doubt was the sole cause? B: Porridge with a little hone and banana MT: nup L: ham and salad sandwich, unless I cave and have a sausage! I am REALLY not wanting to cave, as we are having leftovers for dinner! AT: fruit D: sausage and vegies S: yoghurt Exercise: 5 minutes at 5.5kph, then 10 x (90 seconds 8kph, 50 seconds 6kph) 2 minutes 5.5kph. 30 squats, 36 each side one arm rows, 36 bicep curls. Really glad I sat back and thought about how I felt last night. Obviously it was cathartic and motivating! We have a host of brewers here today. Oh Joy!

B: Protein cereal, skim milk M: banana L: toasted sandwich AT: apple D: Tortellini with lite evap milk sauce, mushrooms, onion and garlic S: yoghurt Ex: Done. I have the kids home on Curriculum day, so did my Tae Bo DVD this morning, Not dissimilar to Combat, but definitely faster, so I had to adapt in order to not kill my knee! Not much happening here, feeling tired. Zac has the dentist later...........

Wasn't going to bother posting, but figured I may as well. I have fallen in a decently deep hole here. My knee has been giving me a lot of pain, and I think it has to be the running and the combat classes. This makes me feel so frustrated, you have NO idea. And of course I have reacted and retaliated in the worst way possible, so I am not going near a set of scales for fear of the mood the reading will put me in. I am whining, so feel free to ignore me, but I figure this is, if nothing else, a safe place to vent! I have used and wasted so much time, energy and sanity on this, and it is totally gutting me to hit more walls. I honestly don't want to bother anymore. (And I have not bothered for the past few days!) I feel as though I am a hopeless case! The self doubt is eating away at me. I look back to how fired up I was after Easter, and how well I was doing and just want to scream at how far it has degenerated! Anyhow, I guess that is more than enough crap from me for one day.

At the risk of sounding flippant wouldn’t a professional/competent gym/trainer be able to give you exercises that won’t smash you up? The trainer that the gastric banding people put me onto gave me a solid work out that was no harder on my knee than walking about 200m. Wouldn’t a program with no injuries and steady progress be better than hurting yourself?

Hi there, Sounds like you're needing a break and some breathing space from the inner turmoil. Be kind to yourself, it's natural to be frustrated. Focus on family and the things that make you happy and you can always get your cheese here to go with your whine! Anyhow, hope the pain is easing and you're getting around unimpeded.

Hey Jane, Sounds like you need a visit Seriously though, I understand that this can seem impossible sometimes, but I refuse to accept that you actually believe what you wrote. It's just a vent. You've been through highs and lows before and you'll go through more in the future. Some will involve skipping exercise, some eating too much, and some a bit of both. If this is the case, guess what? YOU'RE HUMAN!!! So where do we go to from here? In your next post I want you to make a list of what you can do. Here's a start: 1. Get the knee diagnosed 2. Go for short walks 3. Do a pool session etc Go Jane!!!!

Taking a deep, shaky breath.
Alison, hugs to you, too. It's a *** sometimes, huh? Don, yes, a program without hurt would be good. The actual program the gym gave me IS like that, unless I add the running or combat classes! Thanks Lorna, It has just occured to me that it would be far better to simply vent here at the start of a slump rather than inhale enough food for a third world country and THEN vent....... Ah Ray. Nice of you to pop in, I am sure you are shaking your head! I feel like I let others down, too, I just hope you know your interest DOES help. I don't take it lightly, seriously. I DO mean it when I say I don't want to bother anymore, but guess what else? I don't want to live like this MORE than I don't want to bother. (bugger, imagine how much easier ti would be to give up? LOL!) Nice to know I am human.......... I had my doubts. As far as the knee goes, according to my surgeon, the basic issue is that there is no cartiledge in there, so even though the physio said I should be OK, my surgeon has told me I really should not be doing high impact stuff on it. And I am guessing that SHOULD rule out running, and as the Combat Class has alot of that too................. It just pisses me off, you know? It has settled now, and will stay fine if I don't tempt fate again. I am stupidly stubborn sometimes.
I absolutely HATE swimming. I am bad at it, I can't see in the pool without glasses, contacts annoy the life out of me........ Are they excuses, or legitimate reasons? I know the swimming is good for people like me, but if I HATE it? Deep breath, and here is my list, as it stands tonight anyhow! What I CAN do: 1. Crack jokes. ;) 2. The program at the gym. It includes a warm up, plus some weights etc. 3. Incline intervals, just have to work out a really good way to use them. 4. I have a great 5km route around here, hills and flat, takes me about 55 minutes. 5. Find where I put the old PT's programs and do some of those. 6. Try out the ellipticals at the gym. 7. Stop hating myself so much, as someone said to me today, "you wouldn't let anyone treat your friends as harshly as you are treating yourself." 8. Eat sensibly....................... It is really hard to do a list. I am feeling so negatively about everything, hell, I am teary when I think about how frustrated I feel! NO TEARS IN THE GYM!!! So, when are you visiting? LOL! Did Adro ever email you the pics from Easter? I should get a copy and stick it on Trev......... motivate me! I am still heading your way in a few weeks, if you are not as busy as you are ATM. Actually, maybe I will move in with you, Carol and Jess, then you could REALLY kick my a$$! LOL! Anyhow. Enough already. Breathing deeply.......................

Re: Taking a deep, shaky breath.
I got my list.....you haven't let me down! That is a good list too. I was going to say it sounds as though you should give the crosstrainer/elliptical a go. It won't be too bad on the knees and you'll get a high intensity workout. I'm away for the 17th but other than that I'm sure I'm pretty free! Ray

B: 2 slices toast, vegemite MT: Date scone L: 2 slices homemade pizza AT: banana, cup milk D: Lentil and Veg Hot Pot Exercise: 15 minutes Tread Climber, Avg HR 142 10 mins Elliptical Avg HR 143, 5 mins rower, 5 mins cooldown on tready. VERY Happy to report that I was pleased with the treadclimber/elliptical workout! I DID feel unsteady with my dodgy knee on the elliptical a few times, but I think with practice my technique will improve and it will be fine. It was almost like I over compensated and the knee braced itself. Who knows! BUT I got a higher avg HR out of both of those machines that I do with running intervals, so that was impressive for me! In yet another chapter of the frustratingly imperfect body of mine, I have to have a hysterectomy. It is booked in for June 30th, and the recovery is going to suck! 5 days in hospital, then 2 weeks of doing NOTHING, then 4 weeks at least of very moderate activity. Lovely.............................. Honestly, over the last 4 yrs I have had my ankle surgery, knee surgery, shoulder surgery and nhow this. I guess I am running out of "bits" to have done, so it should slow down!

Hope it all goes smoothly for you. Some would suggest having bits cut out is a rather extreme way to lose weight.

LOLOL! The gym has Kidzfit tonight, depending on the state of the kids snotty noses, we will go and i will get back on the treadclimber and elliptical machines. aussiejane: watch Gordon Ramsay swear at people at the same time,
I must admit I don’t understand the fuss about Gordon’s speech. Most people who have worked in a trade type field would have had similar experiences. The Church have been in the paper this week in Adelaide suggesting that he should be taken of the TV but they also encourage women to stay in abusive relationships. Gordon Ramsey swears but is involved with helping victims of domestic violence. The Church is anti swearing but does little to stop or perhaps even encourage domestic violence. Who is worse? I would be very surprised if many people have been hospitalised from swearing. Sadly many women are hospitalised and some even killed as a result of domestic violence.
