    Re: AHOY!

    Hi Mel,

I'm a new addition to the FOH family and have spent a few days writing in my journal and a few others.  But one journal stood out, and that was yours (over 1000 entries! - read 3/4 of them).

I am totally impressed with your transformation.....and determination.....you are inspiring me and helping me to see that it is possible to do this.

At first, I wasn't going to write in here, cause you have many loyal people barracking for you and I almost feel like an "imposter", but I HAD to write and just tell you that what you are doing is amazing and gives hope to many people who are too slack (that's me) to do something with their lives (in this area).

I have very low self-respect after a number of years of being abused (someone calling you a Fat, Lazy, B...... for years seems to have an effect on how you think about yourself).   I mentioned in my own journal that I blame others (well, one person) for my problem of comfort eating, but am trying to be more positive and take responsibility for my choices.....so any help in this area is welcomed....especially reading your journal.

Thanks again Mel, you're truly an inspiration to us all.

    Re: AHOY!

Mel, you have done really well and you have inspired many...including me. I think the thing is that we all realise that we have good days and bad days. Sometimes these days are more frequent and last longer than we'd planned but the easy thing to do is give up and go back to our old habbits. The hard thing to do is to keep at it, and that is what you have done. I used to always say I'd start my healthy eating lifestyle next week, or the week after that because I had a birthday, or wedding or some other event. But when you think about it, there will always be events - that's life, and we have to learn to deal with them and factor them into our lifestyle and keep making the right choices, and know that if we fall off the wagon...it's not the end of the line, because we just get back up again and keep going. I think you are amazing. Keep up the great work.
    Mel

    Re: AHOY!

You're right Mel 747.  I had a terrible eating day today after having an absolutely wonderful week of good healthy food and losing 1.5 kgs.  So tomorrow I just want to start again... and "get back on the horse" as they say....thanks for the reminder that it's not the "end of the line".

    back on the bandwagon!

Alrighty just a quicky whilst at work, but I'm slowly on the bandwagon again.

Last week I did 3 x  7-7.5km runs and plan on doing the same this week.  Once I've got that all going, I'm going back to the weights.  I did minor weights last week.  Also got hockey training.

My eating is also back on doing the below.

Brekky: Porridge with fruit and nuts

Lunch: Soup with a roll or bread

Dinner: pasta, casserole etc with vegies.

    Snacks: 1-2 pieces of fruit

Drinks: (occasionally) 1 latte bought (only had two for the week last week), home brewed coffee, tea and water.  No soft drink!

    today's efforts!

Well, today, is the start of the refreshed Mel in here!  I'm going to try and make an effort to write in here.

I'm off to a good start...just did my 1st run for the week - just over 7km next to the yarra, to the edge of the tan and back down the yarra (the other side) back to work.

Did it in 45 minutes, which was great and came back with another runny nose...does anyone know of any way to fix that?

    Brekky: porridge

Lunch: Vegetarian Chilli (recipe on site)

    Dinner: undecided as yet

    Snacks: Mandarin

Drinks: Home coffee, chai tea and water.

Will also be doing some weights with the resistance band tonight if I can get my act together.

    Re: today's efforts!

    Hey Mel

Thanks for dropping by my journal and the congrats for my marathon. I need a new goal to get me motivated again... Actually I have one, but it is probably over-ambitious. Awwww, I want to tell you all about it but still waiting on something.

I have started the couch-5km coolrunning program. I figured I had better learn to run properly!! I skipped week 1 and started on week 2. This week i should be doing week 4 but I have felt so flat that I havent' done a single training session - not even a proper walk (only the 10 min incidental ones to the hairdresser, and the train station etc).

dinner: chickpea loaf leftovers in a hamburger roll

exercise: weights focusing on arms as have a niggle in the hammy, boxing and hockey training

    Today's planning:

lunch: chickpea loaf leftovers in a hamburger roll

dinner: dinner out @ corporate AFL dinner, unsure

    snacks: banana

drinks: 2 skinny lattes, water, homemade coffee and tea
