    missmel06's journal

ok, so I thought I may start one in here as well.  I've sort of got a weekly weigh on my website.  But don't really go into much detail.

I'm a little sore today and have weights/cardio session at lunch.

I had hockey practice last night and ran 7 laps of the field in 12 minutes.  My best ever.  I was very excited.  7 laps equates to about 2.275km, which is not bad - well for me!  We then did some suicide runs, which I blasted through and actually beat a few people...I've never done that before!  My recovery is getting so much better!

Then chucked the gear on (I'm a goalie) and did some squats, lunges then set plays with the team.

Today should be interesting though, my hammy's a little sore (always is) after hockey...

sounds like your very active mel, great work.

and excellent, that your starting to beat others in the suicide runs, and that your recovery is getting better.

keep an eye on your intake, and you should reach your goal before you know it.

    hugs angel

    Re: missmel06's journal

thanks angel!  I've always liked being fit, but never seemed to be able to kick off the weight.  you're right it's all about the intake...I'm vego, so it's easier and now that I've weened myself off things like chocolate, I just don't need or want them anymore...I've brainwashed myself! :D

you would never believe how much sweat drips off me!

Burnt 1215 calories today at the gym.  I'm trying to beat my cardio kms everytime I do it.

Here's my current workout for my weights today and every weights day:

    • Lunges 15 x 3 each leg
    • Chest Press Dumbells 20 x 3 9kgs

    • Shoulder Press 15 x 3 15kgs
    • Tricep Push Down 20 x 3 20kgs
    • Biceps 20 x 3 9kgs
    • Lunges 15 x 3 each leg
    • Squats 20 x 3 10 second hold on 20th.

    Re: missmel06's journal

Just got a call from Fitness First (my gym I go to).  They would like me to talk and tell my story about how much weight I've lost to their sales guys.

I'm a little nervous but strangely confident about it.  It's amazing how losing weight gives you more confidence.  I also think it will help motivate me more.  The bonus is also that I get 4 free months at the gym for speaking for ten minutes.  Pretty cool, huh?

I have a bit of work to do today.  I've got a boxing class on at lunch, usually burns around 800 calories then hockey practice tonight...by the end I've ususally burned over 2000 calories today...which I love! :D

4 free months for speaking for 10 minutes!!  How brilliant is that!  And you should be so so proud about speaking, you are telling about your story, your success, your journey - you should be so proud of what you have achieved.  Congrats on your weight loss so far, what a great achievement

    Re: missmel06's journal

Just jumped on the scales and I've dropped 1.8kgs this week and .9% body fat. I actually didn't think I dropped anything, so I'm very happy.

Yesterday, I had my weights session again and did the exercise that I've mentioned above but upped some of the weights and also did a PB on the cross trainer.  Was finally able to do 5kms in 30minutes.  I was really excited!

I also had my massage and boy was I sore.  My bum muscles are killing me and causing a nice little pain in my leg.  They do feel better today though!

Well, just off to the gym now for an hour's workout.  No rest for the wicked! :D

    I met Fi from TBL!

Today has been a very eventful day!  I had my talk today with Fitness First and I got to meet Fiona from TBL!

She was talking before me and she looks awesome and she is so friendly!  She still wants to lose a little bit more, but I tell you what she looks sooo different from the show today!

It was extremely difficult chatting after her but I did it with nerves and feel great for doing it...I still can't believe I saw her there and HOW she looked!  Fantastic!

Anyway today I did my weights session with half an hour of cardio and struggled. Tonight I'm doing a boxing class whilst yesterday I had a hockey match and played really well, saving heaps of goals! Although my eating has been a bit dodgy...not extremely but enough for me to be disappointed in it. Oh well! I just have to work the calories off!

Re: I met Fi from TBL!

You'll have to put that in the "famous people I have met" thread!  lol

How many people did you have to speak in front of?  Hope you didn't have to do too much work to earn your free months. Wink [;)]

I'm envious of you getting to play hockey - that was my favourite sport growing up.  I don't have a competitive bone in my body ....... until I get a hockey stick in my hands.  I've looked into it here in Ballarat, but the comp. isn't that big and unfortunately free time in the evenings doesn't exist at the moment, so I'll have to wait a while before I can start playing again.

    Keep up the great work,

    Harri

Re: I met Fi from TBL!

yeah I tell ya it was a bit of a shock! It was great though meeting her and having a little chat!

I think there were about 50 people there or so, so it was pretty scarey.  Especially as they put me on the same pedestal as Fiona...and really I'm not anywhere near my goal weight and also just someone ordinary person! :D  It was fun though.

Harri, you should come play up here when you get the chance!  I play for Footscray...I used to live in Ballarat for a wee while but drove down to play hockey here!

Re: I met Fi from TBL!

Congratulations on a job well done why shouldnt u be on the same pedestal as Fiona she gained her weight just like you or I and lost it the same way only that she was on television but apart from that she is still a regualar person so give yourself some more credit for being so active and working soo hard i wish i was able to walk into a gym but in my head im not well ready to do that... not yet anyway maybe one day...I used to play hockey ice and roller and loved it it sure is a great sport very active!!!!

Keep up the good work and you sure are going so well!!!

Re: I met Fi from TBL!

Wow there's a few hockey players among us! :D

    Thanks Jude,
I think's it just a confidence thing...mentally I was prepared until I saw Fi there. It just threw me off that they put me on that level.  I was honored and proud though!

Getting to the gym is easier than you think.  At first, I was very self-concious but you get to know the regulars (some I talk to or others I just know who they are) and you start getting confident and focused on what you want to do.  The first step is the hardest, but once you do it, you'll be wondering why you didn't do it earlier!

BTW great work yourself!  You're weight loss is amazing!  Keep it up!

    Thanks Cowgirl!
I haven't actually posted anything on the scales forum.  I'd just been using this!  Oops!

Phew! Just been to the gym and was pumped in there but tired now...have hockey tonight as well which should be interesting!  Hopefully we won't do too much running, as I did a couple of kms on the treadmill then a bit of a cycle!  Just a half hour at the gym due to training tonight!

Re: I met Fi from TBL!

ok, I'm a little disappointed today.  I have sort of put out a disc in my back or done something.  It's very tender.  I had a massage last night and my masseuse tried to put it back in but couldn't.  If she can't get it back in on Friday, she will be referring me to a chiro! it's funny as it didn't really hurt until I started manipulating it, I just knew it was out!

So I missed hockey training yesterday...due to being scared all the dives could make it worse.  I did run yesterday with no probs...and today I did my normal weights and cardio session.  I'm exhausted now and my back is a little tender!  No pain, no gain! Wink [;)]
