    Re: Lollylorna's journal

It has been a good week, I lost 2.4kgs so I'm truly stoked with that.

I was having general soreness in my ankles, calves, hip and lower back, but it's improved yesterday and can only keep improving as more weight comes off.

I love my walks, I conquer the world when I walk, and 99% of the time, I walk back in the front door feeling infinitely better than when I left the house.

I'm sticking to eating not over 1500 cals, only had one day over at 1700.  I subtotal before dinner so I' know how much more I have to go.

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

Still walking and loving it.  I walked in the dark tonight though, because that's what I have to do if I want to walk.  It's a bit scary in the dark so I walk quicker.  No ankle pain or anywhere else pain for that matter.  My legs feel stronger up the top, near my hips, I think because I'm really pushing off when I walk.

I can feel the weight dropping off my waist now.  I keep putting my hand on my tummy because it's smaller - nothing to brag about - but I notice it.

I've had to tighten my heart rate monitor chestbelt, and the walkman carrier waist thingy.  My tracky daks are swinging on me.  When I get to 90kgs, I'm going to throw away my old trakky daks (because they're so worn, they're a disgrace), and treat myself to two nice pairs of exercise pants (there'll be a sale on somewhere!).  And I'll send on to a new home my maternity pants, which I still wear, but they slip down all the time.

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

A hiccup yesterday.  Went to a 5yo party and ate unintended calories, about 400-500 of them.  Then had sore tum rest of day.  It didn't turn into a spiral out of control thing, but I didn't feel up to exercise - funny how unhealthy food drains your energy, I'd been feeling so well....

today a new day.  I'll post later after my exercise and when I don't have a baby on my lap trying to type for me lol.

    Hi Lorna,

I totally agree with you about the impact of unhealthy food. I was never sure whether it was just a mental barrier or it was real - but these days I always feel "blah" after I've eaten unhealthy stuff. It even leaves an unpleasant taste in my mouth afterwards.

That's the double-edge sword of unhealthy eating - it then makes you feel that you don't want to exercise, which compounds the issue.  Anyway, you're back on track today so, Yay You!

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

Well, my man held the fort while I went for my walk and came home an hour and 38min later!  So that was a good walk, blew away any negatives from yesterday.

I've cut out pretty much all added sugar from my diet these last couple of weeks, and I've felt more even-tempered and not so drained in the afternoon/evening.  It's quite remarkable.

And just a little dirty secret - this family was going through a kilo of sugar a week in tea's and coffee's...

I find when I'm making dinner that  a)one pot for puppy's dinner  b) main family dinner  c)extra veggies/salad for my plate and a little extra for 5yo  d)pureed food for baby's dinner.  Sorry ladies, I'm not a multi-tasker and I let the team down there.  I think one night that the puppy will get dh's dinner and dh will get the pet mince!

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

crikey that's a lot of sugar! i remember we used to do that too (i used to have 2x sugar in each hot drink - and i'd have at least 8 coffees a day... go do the math on that!!)

don't worry about multi-tasking - focus on one thing at a time and do it brilliantly!

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

    Thanks CG.

Having a good couple of days, hanging out at home with the boys.  It's good to have nothing on the schedule.  We've been playing Snap, Memory, reading, baked chocolate cookies (which aren't for me so I'm not eating them), digging up a dinosaur, and some computer educational games.  Baby is trying to switch from 3 sleeps to 2 sleeps a day so he has a good chance of sorting it out before the 5yo's schedule starts again.

Challenge coming up for me is lunch with workmates on Friday.  They've picked an Indian place so I've had a look and chicken tikka seems the best option, though my fave is Palak Lamb.  Can anyone recommend an Indian dish that's not too calorie rich??

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

gosh i think the best place to start figuring out low cal indian options is to go onto calorie king - might not be the exact calories, but you can find something similar to what is at the restaurant, and you have a rough idea of what the cals are then!

sounds like what i've been doing with my kids, just cosy home stuff, no messin about!

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

My 5yo has taken to repeatedly getting out of bed the last two nights.  Until 10pm last night, and he's still going now.  Usually he's spot on about a 7-30 bedtime.  Argh.

Anywho, did a walk to the park with 5yo, pram/baby and puppy.  Needless to say we got tangled a lot.  That was unofficial exercise.  I did my official exercise up and down my court tonight.  At least it was done.

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

Tonight I walked up and down the court for 35min and then did the home circuit twice through, and I calculated that that means I did 6min of sit-ups, which is really good, I think!

Had a big chat about this website to a friend today, and I'm forwarding the address to her so she can have a look and maybe tell a few others about it too.

I've been adhering quite well to my 1500 cals, it's not a hardship to keep to if I eat lots of veggies.  I'm looking forward to seeing some of my old work colleagues tomorrow, but I've this feeling that they're going to order a banquet.  I've looked it up and Chicken Tikka is about 260 cals, and a piece of tandoori chicken is about the same, so if I can I'll order that and have a bowl of rice with it, and eat slowly, so no-one feels tempted to fill my plate.  Must eat before I go, so I'm not ravenous.  If I end up roped into a banquet, then I'll just have to make sure I get lots of exercise over the weekend.

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

For lunch I ordered entree chicken tandoori, and it was just four small pieces of chicken breast cooked in a tandoor oven, with two lettuce leaves and slice of tomato - nothing really, not even any sauce, and 1 cup of plain rice, water to drink.  So that was a safe outing.  I was too busy playing "pass the baby around" to be thinking about food anyway!  Was good to see some old faces again, I work with some nice people.

Had a late night last night so off to bed early, can't wait to crawl in and huddle up to...the remote control. lol.  Gee its a bad habit, eh!

    Re: Lollylorna's journal

One more kilo off!  Good riddance to it!

Having an ankle issue and have been putting Voltaren Emulgel on it but it's not really relieving the ache at rest- the pain runs down the top of my foot towards my toes.  I've always had ankle probs, and I've been figuring this is becuasse of lack of use and lugging the weight around, but maybe not.  There's a bit of swelling but nothing like when I had pre-eclampsia.

My walks are really turning into something more like 'training' because I go as hard as my legs/ankles will let me, the pain subsides after 40 mins or so and then I flow...I got my HR right up to 159bpm and my avg bpm wass 124.  I feel like I'm really going for it when I walk.  Love it.  And I'm changing my target hr range to 120-140 this week.

I've also been doing Ray's home circuits every other night and I've just added lunges for this week  I think I'll add bicep curls next week with juice bottles filled with water.

I feel little changes that only I would notice like: my jawline is less fleshy, my waist isn't so bloated, not passing wind so much Embarrassed [:$] , bend over easier, get up and down off the floor easier, skin looks better.
