    Re: Weigh in #1

A few of us at work are starting 'visualisation boards'.  Someone saw one of those motivational movies and was telling us all about them.  Basically the idea is to start with a blank pinboard and stick pictures of the things you want to achieve on it.  I found a heap of pics on the net- have taken them into a photolab to print out decent quality pics.  Am also going through a few magazines etc.

One of the things I'm planning on putting up is progress pics of me & a graph of the weight I've lost so far.  Hopefully it'll work having a constant reminder up on the wall at home.

    Re: Weigh in #1

I can report that I went for a walk this arvo and did not get tooted at / sworn at once (well my neighbour tooted but I wasn't counting that).

My photoboard is now up on the wall- pics and all.  Well I'm still collecting pictures & deciding which ones I want on the board so I guess in a week or so I'll have made a final decision.  I managed to find a pic of Adro's final weigh on in TBL series 1 & have included it in the collection.  Something to keep my butt in gear.

I found these really cool little containers at the shop- made by Decor & sold in a pack of 6.  They're salad dressing tubs- so you can keep the dressing separate until it's time to eat...stops your salad from getting soggy by lunchtime.  You can also use them for other stuff like small servings of marg etc that you need to take to work.

    Hi Nat,

I'd love to see a pic of the board sometime. Sounds like a great idea!

I'm actually quite big on Visualisation training. I did a bit when I worked with the Institute of Sport. Got Adro into too in the elad up to the final weigh in!

I also found these really cool pics of Bora Bora (nice little resort in Tahiti)- am hoping to be there in about 12 months time for my birthday celebration / comiseration- haven't quite decided yet about turning 30.

Definitely a celebration. Reaching 30 is much better than the only other option - NOT reaching 30!

    Re: Weigh in #1

Agreed- better to turn 30 than to not make it there at all, however am starting to feel the pressures... beginning to be the only single childless one in the room now.

Seeing my friend's 4 year old yesterday only confirmed my fears of children- he decided to check and see if I was wearing underwear- twice.

Hey, We have another thing in common besides both being Nat.....lol. My goal one day is to go to Bora Bora as well! They had a article in the newspaper a few months ago and I kept it as a reminder for what I am striving for! I wan't to stay on one of the bungalows over the water!!! So i best be saving my penies now coz it's quite pricey there!

I found pics of the bungalows over the water- have printed them out on photo quality paper & stuck them up on my board.  I think it'll be worth the cost to go- a once in a lifetime kind of treat.

    Re: Weigh in #2

I'm really looking forward to the comp.  I was talking to a few of the fellow contestants at work yesterday.  I discovered I am a bit of a lightweight in the comp- one of the other women entering weighs in at 160kg.. granted she is about the heaviest.  One of the guys on her team weighs in at 155kg & we're trying to get him into the comp too.

I've even managed to recruit a few people to walk with me at lunchtime.

There's such good natured competitiveness in our workplace- I know I like to compete with the best of them so there's a good chance that I will stick with this one for the duration.

They're still negotiating with prizes.  Hope it's something good.  Will keep you posted on the comp's progress- first comp meeting is 6pm tonight.

    NRMA Insurance's Biggest Loser Comp

Well we did it- first weigh in.  Also took our 'before' fat pics & measurements.

The deal is we decide on the how to get to our goals.  We're signing pledges in the coming days to first and foremost commit to our own health and wellbeing and secondly partake in the challenge to become fitter and healthier.  Weigh day is Thursday.  One Thursday we're having an informative speaker and on the alternate Thursday we'll be exercising together.  There will be a monthly prize & is being judged on the % of body weight lost as opposed to total kgs lost.  The company has pledged $500 prize to be awarded to the Biggest Loser at the end of the 6 months and each participant can claim up to $100 for any costs incurred with getting fitter- gym memberships, Weight Watchers fees etc.  At the end of the 6 months one of the participants & another staff member will be organising a glamour photography shoot for all the participants.  Our state manager is a qualified doctor and ex team doctor to the Wallabies and has agreed to pledge his support to the cause.  Looks like we're all going to contribute a weekly amount to getting a personal trainer in on a weekly basis to take us through a workout.

The digital scales we have at work go up to 130kg and there are participants in the comp who could not be weighed on the scales.  I can report I have lost .2kg since Tuesday.

Re: NRMA Insurance's Biggest Loser Comp

Looks like about 15 so far.  Am hoping it's a good comp- there's only one guy in it so far but soo many more who need to go in it.  There's a few people who don't want to disclose their weight to anyone and it's stopping them from joining in.  So far we've agreed it's up to the individual to disclose their weight if they wish.  It also looks like that for every kg lost NRMA Insurance is going to donate $1 to charity- it's a last minute request we've put to management.  Theydid it last year to get a lone employee in Sydney to lose weight and we hope it will be on the table again this year.
