    Re: Back on the wagon

Feeling really good today. Sun is shining, birds are singing.....

Shins and achilles tendons are a bit sore from walking in the wrong shoes yesterday, so taking today off to let them rest. Will definitely do something tomorrow - I think I might walk the kids up to the train station, catch the train to Maling Rd (Canterbury), have lunch, then do the reverse to get home. That'll keep them entertained by the train ride, and it'll give me at least 90mins (probably closer to 2hrs) of exercise pushing 45kgs worth of kids+pram. Looking forward to it!

Thank God for spring - it's so effective at providing motivation to exercise, because it's just so nice to get out and enjoy the weather!!

Oh, and how cute is this - yesterday morning when my DH and the kids were walking with me to the train station, Miss Three suddenly started sprinting and turned around and said "Come on Mummy lets DO IT!"!! So I'm not sure where she got that from, but it certainly made us laugh Lol

    Re: Back on the wagon

I did do the walk up to the station - so walk to Blackburn (~45mins) - train to Maling Rd - train to Parliament Station - walk to Melbourne Museum - walk all around Museum - walk back to Parliament Station - train to Blackburn - walk home. By the end of the day I was STUFFED!! Yesterday I don't think I did any exercise for the whole day, but eating was ok. Had homemade chocolate mousse for dessert (yummy!) but that was about the limit of the not-great food.

Weighed myself this morning. Am within a couple of hundred grams of last week. Feeling quite flat about how high it is - but that's ok, I've really only been back on this wagon for about a week. Today I'm going to make up a list of meals with less than 200 calories in them. I figure if I can have seven meals per day of 200 cals each then that's 1400 cals - but it will feel like I'm eating all day!

Am spending the whole weekend studying - lots of fun (and amazingly that's genuine! Big Smile ) but will definitely fit in some exercise. I drove today because I had to come via the doctor, but will ride tomorrow.

    Re: Back on the wagon

    Thanks TF :)

This morning I caught the train from Syndal to East Malvern then walked from there to work - it took me about 30mins. Then tonight I'll catch the train to Blackburn and walk home, which will take me about 45mins. So lots of walking today.

I've also started my 200-calories plan - so far I've had one pc of toast and a latte for breakfast (total 200 cals), then an apple (75cals)  for my first snack. I worked out that to have seven meals per day I should eat at 8am, 10am, noon, 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm. So constantly! So I kinda like the idea of that - it would mean that I would be eating constantly, and hopefully not ever hungry!

    Re: Back on the wagon

200 calorie plan is working a treat Big Smile - am meant to have had 800 cals so far, have had 820, am due to eat again in 30mins, but am not at all hungry! Yes Maybe I will be in 30mins though! But have planned what I'm going to have at 4 and for dinner. So it's all good Jump1

I remember that when I lost all that weight last year the things that I did were:

    - eat properly (~1400cals per day)

    - exercise at least 60mins each day (LOTS of walking to and from the train station)

    - thought about what I was eating and planned ahead

So it's not really difficult, I just need to start doing it again - which I have, and I'm feeling GOOD Jump1

    Re: Back on the wagon

Hey there TF, yeah the walking is great - I love walking to the station and back because it's goal oriented - it gives me somewhere to go - just walking around the block is boring as!

Am in desperate need of some exercise at the moment - I've got assessment due tomorrow that I've spent all day working on, my head is spinning, am meant to be in class as I type but haven't even looked at a whole heap of stuff I still have to do for it. Can't get the formatting right and it's driving me crazy!!

I did walk for about an hour this morning - I had to go and have some blood taken, so walked 30min there, 30min back. Was going to keep walking up to the station but knew I'd be late tonight since my class finishes at 8pm and I didn't want to be walking home in the dark. As it turns out I think it was a good idea to drive cos I think I'll be here until pretty late tonight!!

    Re: Back on the wagon

Am a little bit freaked out today. I had to have my blood sugars tested because I had gestational diabetes (so they're tested every year) and they were *slightly* too high - they were 5.6. There are conflicting ideas about what they're meant to be - they're generally taken as needing to be between 4.0-6.0 but there is an increasing trend to refer to results of 5.5 and above as being "pre-diabetic" and starting intervention. So I am freaked out a little bit and know that I need to start really working on my diet and exercise, because for the first time ever it's actually being seen in my health. But MAN it's hard.

I decided I was going to start walking up to the train station and back every work day (ie Mon/Wed/Fri) - but I have class that finishes at 8pm on Monday, so I won't get home until nearly 10pm if I walk - Wednesday I have my personal training at 8pm (although I can still walk, get home at 7pm and then go to personal training) - and Friday I usually do the creche pickup (but I can get my husband to do that). So it's so easy to find a reason to not do it! But now I really have one, and I will start doing it.

    Re: Back on the wagon

My only concern would be for your safety walking that late at night... lots of weirdos on the lurk to watch out for!!

I get my blood sugar tested each year too.. so far so good... but im still wary that it could change which is why im doing something about it now.. good on you for taking it seriously too.. if you need any help along the way we are all here!

    Re: Back on the wagon

LOL Thanks guys! Yes, walking around late at night has been ruled out. What I have decided with Mr Coops is:

Mondays: from now on my classes are only on alternate weeks, so on "class" nights I'll drive and on "no class" days I'll walk

Wednesdays and Fridays: walk to & from the station - then on Wednesdays, as soon as I get home I'll change clothes and go to my PT session

Saturdays and Sundays: ride my bike to uni to study (this is only for another six weeks actually, so we'll have to revise this at the end of semester)

Tuesdays and Thursdays: haven't even discussed it. I guess I could get up and go to the gym, which will still get me home at 8:30am so Mr Coops can head off to work. OR I could sleep in...... mmmm, I like sound of that ;)

And the bonus of walking to and from the station is that at night, Mr Coops and the baby Coops' can walk up to meet me, so we get to go for a lovely evening walk together. That's what we were doing last year, and it was fantastic! :D

    Have a lovely day everyone!

    Re: Back on the wagon

Got dropped off at train station, caught train to East Malvern then walked from there to work - took 30min. Will do the reverse to get home tonight, then off to PT session.

Summary of food so far today: latte + 1pc toast & vegemite (200 cals) -- 2 apples (150 cals) -- lots of coke zero (0 cals). Now am going to have some salad & bbq chicken breast that I cooked up at home two nights ago. Nummy!

You really are disciplined to get off the train and walk the extra distance.. good for you! Im glad you aren't walking late at night that was really worrying me! Roll on the summer months so we can all get out walking in the evening!!

    Re: Back on the wagon

Thanks Rossy, I have been feeling good about starting walking again. I haven't quite gotten in to the power walking again yet, I'm just doing "slightly fast" walking - enough to get me to focus on my breathing properly but not dripping sweat - but it's a start :)

Went to my PT session on Wednesday night - did a bit of a jog for my warm-up then into the session: bench press (2 sets) then pushups (16) then supermans (18 x each leg) then leg pedal (1 min) then leg press (2 sets of 190kg!!!) then seated row (2 sets) then cardio (2 sets x kicks/punches/starjumps).

Walked from the station again today - was pi$$ing rain so got quite satched but managed to dry off nicely! Then obviously I need to walk back tonight, so I hope it's not raining again!

Was planning on riding in to uni to study on the weekend, but they've forecast rain all week so I think I might either head off to the gym first thing tomorrow to use the x-trainer then drive in OR I could go for a ride in the morning and come home then drive to uni OR I could ride to uni and get DH to come and get me if it starts to rain in the afternoon. I'll think about it. I suspect I'll go with the first option.

I should probably weigh myself tomorrow too - I haven't done that in a few weeks....
