    My Pledge

    I am an intelligent person.

I will control my eating and ensure it is nutritious and in moderation.  Every time I am tempted:

    • to use food to stimulate my body or mind, or
    • avoid exercise

    I will remember:

The short-term pleasures have consequences and will prevent me reaping the benefits of weight loss.

    Monday 26/11/07

    Monday 26th November 07

Ethan woke for a feed at 5.30 this morning which always makes it easier to stay up and go for a walk.  By the time I finished with him I had 40mins to play with.  I love to get out with the MP3 player in the early morning when everything is fairly quiet (I live in Wodonga I imagine its pretty different in the city).  I love to make that special effort to look up.  Much of my day is spent bending over the pram, or down to kids level so it makes me feel great to check out the clouds, sky and treetops.  Lots of over-protective birdie parents out there though swooping at what they perceive to be a threat.   Who me???  Playgroup from 9-12 this morning.  Had to sort out some grief from last week which was a big pain in the butt.  Felt a bit blue since then but at about 2.30pm I was making a vegemite sandwich and thought ' Why should I let all that crap result in me having a gain for the week'  So I ate my sandwich and picked up a book I've been trying to read to take my mind off it all which has worked really well.
    Food:

Breakfast: 2 Wheatbix (plus crumbs) with skim milk and honey

Lunch: Garden Salad with Tomato & Onion Tuna
               Jam Sandwich with marg
    Snack:  Vegemite Sandwich with marg

Dinner: Chicken Pasta Casserole with salad
Snack: 1 Piece of Fruit plus 200g No Fat Yoghurt
    •  Drinks:
      • Water - 3 x 600ml
      • Diet Coke - 2 x 600ml, 1 x 375ml

Excercise:  45min walk including light hills and 5 mins gutter stepping and some stepping over a knee high coppers log fence.

I'm really happy when I can get out for a walk. I have to put in a big effort now to build up some consistency.  If I haven't written anymore exercise into my journal before Thursday, someone tell me to get off this computer and get out walking.

    Re: Monday 26/11/07

I had my weekly weigh-in tonight and had a 0.8kg loss.  yippee... more off.  The goal of the Take Off Weight Naturally club is averaging 500g per week, and also no gains.  Clearly everything more than that is great too but we like to recognise the important thing is getting smaller consistantly.

THIS time round I started focusing on my weight again, my first meeting back at the club was on 10.9.07 and I weighed in at 106.6 so I'm pretty happy with how things are going so far I have achieved another of my short term goals as of today.  The second one was my Start of Summer goal - 98.5 by 30th November... yeah I'm 100g off but I've still got a few days. I won't get on the scales again until the 3rd so I'm claiming it :-) Banana

My next short term goal is my Christmas goal - 96.5kgs by 24th December.  I've made a pledge to 'go without' during Christmas parties and such, and I've also started walking more regularly (Make sure I keep it up, pick on me if I haven't written anything about exercise for a few days) so this should be fairly straight forward if I dont sabotage the plan.

Yeah me, Keep up the good work Jo you're doing great!!!!

A great set of goals you have there Jo..... You remember to be "persistant"..

Take 5 minutes out everynight and visualise your goals. Just think about how you want to be...

Wow, 2 days in a row.  Thanks Ethan.  It wasn’t my intention to miss lunch today.  I was doing lots of chores this morning and then got into checking and writing some other posts and simply ran out of time before Mainly Music at 1.30pm.  It’s not what I want to start doing because I think it usually backfires but luckily I don’t feel too hungry tonight that I’ll lose track.

I was really happy with myself today.  It was pretty stressful with Ethan running such a temp at such a young age.   He was throwing up the Panadol and so it was quite difficult to get the temp down.   By the time I was at the shops going to the chemist etc I was feeling very much like a chockie fix.  But I self talked myself through the fact that it was probably just my sugar addiction calling in a stressful time and I’d already bought my lunch and just not eaten it so I just told myself off and sat and ate my roll.  Then I told myself to go home for a sleep before Ethan got fed up and I had a whole different problem to work on.

I’m finding talking to myself very helpful indeed.  So I’ll be thin but crazy hehehe

I really was still working out how to do the exercise program from the Training Diary today.  I realise now that rather than do Push-ups, then break, and do more Push-ups, and break and then the final lot of exercises, I should do them more like a circuit class at the gym.  Obvious now I've seen the daily summary, dahhhh.  Anyway, Ethan being sick took up most of my day with a trip to the doctors, chemist, then medicare, more sleep, then picking up the rest of the family from work and daycare.

Anyone got any good ideas for back strengthening exercises at home to exchange for reverse pull-ups as I dont have any equipment at all so nothing to pull up on??

    THURSDAY 29/11/07

    Food:

Breakfast: 3 x Wheatbix with skim milk and honey (extra one due to Caitlyn not eating hers)

Snack:       Low Fat Yoghurt plus 2 x Kiwi Fruits

Lunch:      Leftover Chile Con Carne with Cabbage and mashed pumpkin/zucchini

    Snack:       Nothing

    Dinner:       Ham & Tomato Sandwich

                      2 x Kiwi Fruits

Snack:       2 x No Fat Yoghurt

    Drinks:     Water - 4 x 500ml

       Diet Coke – 3 x 375ml

I am exercise sore today.  It’s funny how back and neck pain is different when its from sensible exercise than when its from bad posture.  I’m also feeling pretty tired.  I was up again with the kids last night but not for as long so things are improving.  I’m also feeling much hungrier today, probably the last few days of missing meals.   It’s been a high risk day so I’m happy I haven’t given in to something unhealthy.

I guess I should be grateful that I am the only one who has not got whatever it is that is plaguing the family just now, but Lochie is crook now too. Fair dinkum… I just want to go for a walk in the cool evening air.

    Re: THURSDAY 29/11/07

    Hi Jo!

Looks like you are having a great week, big pat on the back for you! Have you noticed your quantities seem to be shrinking too, or is it just the way I am reading your foods? What are the ":crumbs" you had with the Weetbix???

Hope you have a fab weekend!
