I have a Polar FS1 which most of the time works fine.
But quite often when I go for my routine walk around the block (4.4k at a steady 6 k/h or so) it will suddenly give crazy readings - jumping up by 50 or more beats per minute and then correcting itself. The beeps are also sometimes irregular (beep......beepbeep......beep..............beep.... etc). I am quite sure that my heart is not behaving as indicated!
One possibility is that under dry windy conditions, the water I apply to the chest strap as per the instructions is drying out.
Apart from walking faster in order to generate more perspiration, is there any conductive "gel" that can be applied to the chest strap to maintain better contact (or does it not work this way) ?
