Jules, please know I was TOTALLY joking! (although not the self confidence bit, but I am definitely improving on that one!)

Is the price on the website a mistake?

Is it normally $1818 per week plus $500 booking fee?

I think Adro is amazing and i imagine this concept would be a huge success but how many people can afford that price. I love that Adro wants everyone to have a story and all his staff have experienced some weight issue but that price also suggests he only wants rich clients who have a story.

    Hi Allie,

That is the price for the first 2 weeks. It's about $1400 per week for every week after that.

Unfortunately it does cost a lot to run. He has to outlay the rent for a 20 room site, then you've got food, and 3 training sessions and 2 lifestyle coaching sessions each day. Then you have to make some kind of profit.

    Thanks Ray

Well I didn't expect it to be cheap but I didn't expect it to be out reach for most people.

I wish him all the success

Yes, it's a shame that the people who probably need it most are those that can't afford that kind of money but you just can't get away from the fact that it costs serious money to run a program like that. Maybe in the future there might be some kind of government funding to assist those who need it.

I have to admit though, I think the fact that people have to outlay that kind of cash means that only those who are serious will turn up. I've been offering sessions over the past 6 months where the government pays, and I have to admit that many of those that take advantage of the deal have wasted my time.

It is sad, Ray, isn't it? Why do YOU think it is? Are people just not "clicking" or is the desire not strong enough? Or something altogether different?

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

While I can understand that a program as mentioned would be expensive to run.

Whether there are other programs that are just as effective that are cheaper I have no idea.

I would also think that for a similar amount people could buy a nice holiday.

I suppose the real proof is if the program is close to fully subscribed.

If people leave the program happy and thinking they got value for money is another important issue.

An economist would wonder about elasticity issues if the program is not fully subscribed.

Certainly it is out of my price range.

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

My last holiday at the nudist resort cost $480.00 of 12 days for my whole family for accommodation.

It was self catering so the food was about the same cost as if we had been at home.

I must admit I would want to be seeing some good long term statistics to pay that sort of money.

After all I don’t need to pay to learn how to yoyo diet.

My gastric band cost me considerably less than a week long stay with Adro.

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

Well, good for you Don, good for you!

I know that a week with Adro and his staff would probably do alot more for me in the long run than several weeks at a nudist resort, AND the food is covered there! LOL!

    Each to their own.

Isn't this the whole point, you are being taught how to NOT yoyo diet.

I think it is crazy to compare the prices of this compared to surgery - personally I would pay any amount if it meant that I could acheive my goals without surgery with all its risks and lifelong effects.

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

The New Me is all about learning about lifestyle change, in a positive environment. No doubt some people will walk away with all the tools to succeed, others will go back to their old ways.

Yes you can go on a holiday, but what will you learn? And even if the surgery is the option you choose, there's no guarantee of success there either (even though they market their stats as a 95% success rate!)

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

I love the concept of the New Me.  At the moment I can't justify the time away from home or the expense but if my circumstances were a little different then it's something I would definitely consider.

I'm in agreement that you can't put a price on good health- I'm in the midst of spending a small fortune having baby privately to ensure both baby & I are healthy at the end of it all.  Because I've got diabetes and high blood pressure the risks of something going wrong are too high (I remember once someone telling me not to get sick in Qld).

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

I hope Adro is successful logically people who are prepared to spend the money and have the disruption to their lives to participate will be highly motivated.

Like any business if he has a lot of happy customers that refer people his business will expand.

Then as long as he has the numbers right he should do quite well.

With the holiday suggestion I was only trying to suggest the conflict that many people may have should I spend this money on product A or product B.

Certainly from my casual observations there are plenty of people who would sooner spend their money on.

    A big TV

    A fancy car.

    A holiday.

Rather than some sort of health and fitness program.

While I am not an expert on the products available in the health and fitness industry it seems that at $1400 per week that this would be towards the upper end of the price scale.

I have no idea on the success rate of this style of program.

What constitutes success is a very personal thing.

What constitutes value for money is a very personal thing.

Re: The New Me is opening MARCH 08

No, $1400 is not that expensive. Camp Eden is around $3k apparently!

Yes, I agree that it's not for everyone and that some will rather spend their holidays actually holidaying!

I do know that he currently has a person who has flown in from Japan!
