    Re: Back on the Horse...

    hiya

i have a rotten chesty sinus cold thingie but otherwise i'm doing okish. had new ultrasound of foot cyst, waiting to hear from surgeon to see if/when we can cut the fecker out.

those breathe right nasal strips are AMAZING for helping snoring. my nasal passages are sooooo much more open and clear at night, so am happy about that.

optifasting is going pretty well - i've been shaking and going ok. had a couple drinks last night though, but refused drinks today. and the rest of the week as well. so not so bad.

going to jump on the scales to see where i'm at tomorrow. hopefully a drop! will wait & see.

am going to bed - feel so icky, will pop a couple pills, stick on my sexy nasal strip. lavender my pillow and get some yummy sleep!

    Hi Kaz,

I was just on the phone to my sister who has the Allen Carr quit smoking book and says it's her bible. She loves it!

    Re: Back on the Horse...

i have been a non-smoker for over 3 months now. the hypnosis with the psychologist was the best thing i've ever done. best money i've ever invested in myself.

    Re: Back on the Horse...

A more pessimistic view would be ex-smoker,

It seems common for ex-smokers to fall off the wagon.

Congratulations and you would certainly be healthier for it.

Even if you don’t save the money at least you are likely to have something to show for it now.

    Re: Back on the Horse...

isn't it lucky i'm not a pessimistic old c**t then!

a strong basis of the hypnosis was to view myself and believe myself to no longer be a smoker, to be a NON SMOKER so it's quite interesting the strength words can have. (I repeat "I'm a non-smoker" as often as I can, and as I do it becomes a stronger belief within.) Very different to being an ex-smoker. one of the things i have a hard time believing now is that i WAS a smoker - as a non-smoker i'm horrified to think i did! as a non-smoker i am physically repulsed by the smell of any cigarette. as a non-smoker i never ever will lapse, because i am not a smoker. i'm not an ex-smoker: i'm a non-smoker. period.

aside from my current chesty-cold/lost-voice sore throat thing i'm actually doing really wonderfully and feel quite healthy. i'm no longer having panic attacks in the middle of the night that i've got cancer & i'm going to die. i don't obsess about having cancer. i don't obsess about not being able to breathe. i don't obsess about being sick sick sick and suffocating. these are things that would infiltrate my mind and stop me from sleeping for YEARS. it was very very unhealthy - as unhealthy as the smoking.

    thanks for your well-wishes!

    Re: Back on the Horse...

If it works great I must admit it struggle to understand why people smoke.

So perhaps when it comes to smoking I am just a confused bystander.

    Re: Back on the Horse...

Don, why do people drink? Why do people overeat? Why do people smoke? It is an addiction, and it is rarely begun with the intention of forming an addiction that will damage a persons health.

Good on you Kaz, now just kick the sick to the kerb!

    Re: Back on the Horse...

I list getting off cigarettes very high on my lifetime achievements.  I know how many times I failed before I succeeded.I can hear the pride in yourself and I relate to that feeling.

I'm glad the nighttime anxiety is reduced, I've had that from time to time and find I have to rationalise the fears in order to get to sleep.

    Great going, Kaz, you've won.

    Re: Back on the Horse...

I don’t know and considering the public health issues involved with these behaviours if medicine had a reliable treatment the problem would be decreasing.

After all smallpox used to be a fearsome disease.

If Kaz has found a treatment that works for her I am delighted.
