I did 2kms non-stop on the treadmill yesterday at speed 9.4 !!!!!! I am so psyched!!!! Two things changed for me. First - it helps me to see how other people progress. Even hearing that the BL contestants are running at 18kms (or perhaps that was exaggerated) but rowing for 5kms, etc. makes me think that I should up my ante. And second, running beside an acccomplished runner helped me find my own rhythm and reminded me to breathe more rhythmically. I just got into a groove and stopped thinking about what I was doing.
It constantly amazes me how my mind stops/limits/scares me from reaching my goals. Before yesterday, I just couldn't see past 1km. Ever. Now I can see how maybe just maybe I will be able to complete the 4km marathon. Funny thing is - is that there's an 11km option as well. My trainer reckons I'll be doing 11kms by August !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But for now... I'm happy with 2km. And progressing... jojo
