PH levels? Been told my body is too acidic!

Can anyone comment on the whole ph level thing??

I've been told that my body is too acidic, and that I should eat less acid foods and more alkaline foods if I want to be really healthy!

    Confused [*-)]

I've researched on the net, and different sites seem to label foods differently, so I'm not too sure what I should be doing any more.

I eat rockmelon with non-fat yogurt and a handful of sultanas and nuts for breakfast, but apparently that's really bad for me because both melon AND yogurt are supposed to be acidic.

Should I be taking any notice of this stuff?

    Warm regards,

    Mandy

hmm...not sure too much on what you're eating but you probably know the obvious one of staying away from citrus foods?  citrus foods are really acidic!

Re: PH levels? Been told my body is too acidic!

    Thanks for that missmel06,

this is some info I found on the web, which I thought was interesting (but then, other sites say different stuff, so who really knows?)

Foods: are they Acid or Alkaline-forming?
Note that a food's acid or alkaline-forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself. For example, lemons are very acidic, however the end-products they produce after digestion and assimilation are very alkaline so lemons are alkaline-forming in the body. Likewise, meat will test alkaline before digestion but it leaves acidic residue in the body so, like nearly all animal products, meat is classified as acid-forming.

It is important that your daily dietary intake of food naturally acts to balance your body pH. To maintain health, the diet should consist of at least 60% alkaline forming foods and at most 40% acid forming foods. To restore health, the diet should consist of 80% alkaline forming foods and 20% acid forming foods.

    Osteoporosis and joint pain.
Aching muscles and lactic acid buildup.
    Low energy and chronic fatigue.
    Slow digestion and elimination.
    Yeast/fungal overgrowth.
    Lack of energy and fatigue.
    Lower body temperature.
    Tendency to get infections.
Loss of drive, joy, and enthusiasm.
    Depressive tendencies.
    Easily stressed.
    Pale complexion.
    Headaches.
Inflammation of the corneas and eyelids.
    Loose and painful teeth.
    Inflamed, sensitive gums.
    Mouth and stomach ulcers.
Cracks at the corners of the lips.

Re: PH levels? Been told my body is too acidic!

From my physiology studies the homeostatic mechanisms within the body are very good.

Assuming you are reasonably healthy you can’t change your body PH.

While nutrition could be considered a science with incomplete knowledge there are people that put forward theory’s that suggest that all the research and knowledge gained so far is worthless and incorrect.

While modest changes to your diet are unlikely to cause any problems assuming you sill have a varied and balances diet.

I would think that suggesting that you can cure or control all these medical conditions with a chance in diet seems an incredible claim.

Re: PH levels? Been told my body is too acidic!

I just did Betalife and was told in that..that citrus fruit is NOT acid forming as it does something in your system, they said that you should combine fruit and veg to create a balance. I eat broccoli and mandarins for brekky and during the day I'll have orange and carrot juice.

I'll re-look at the DVD and let you know as I cant remember word for word.

Thank you Don! The voice of reason.

My opinion on this - it's the biggest load of bollocks.

    No science involved at all.

Let's see it in action. Let's see the actually proof.
