    Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

    Hi guys,

I thought I'd pass the details through the forum about this series of 3 fun walk/runs coming up in Melbourne in Sept, Oct and Nov.  It's your choice of a 4 or 8km walk/jog/run.

    All the details are here:

    http://www.ausrun.com.au/index.php?id=46&event_id=20

"The Spring into Shape Series was initiated in 1992 by Start to Finish Event Management to fill the fun run void in the months leading up to summer. This gave people the ideal incentive to resume an exercise program following a lay off over winter. The three events held in September, October and November allow for participants to gauge the increase in their fitness levels."

Personally, I'm interested in signing up for the series as it fits in well with my goal timeline and performance goal to be jogging well by the end of Nov.  Plus you get a t-shirt if you sign up for the three events ($70) - individually $25 per event.

Of course, I would love company!

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Hi Missmel, you can join on the day for the Queen of the Lake on Sunday at 8am for $30.  The price of these put me off a bit.  That link above connects you to the same organisers.

I'm definitely going to enter the Spring into Shape, just waiting for cashflow.  I'll be doing the 8km's.  Don't know that I'll keep up Alison, but I'll see you afterwards.

    Hi again,

Just bumping this up the threads to remind Melb's about this opportunity.  Jane and I are entered for the series to do the 8km walk, so would love to do the group thing (oh, you know what I mean!).  Details on the first post of this thread.

    More the merrier.

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Yep, I'm now signed up and paid for the series- should be fun! I just did a 10km fun run yesterday, which was  organised by the Defence Forces called "Lake Attack"- it was a really great family day with heaps of stuff for the kids to look at (my kids were even shown on ch 9 news -for a nano second- climbing on top of a tank!) and go on (tank, helicopter, fire truck, planes)*lol*, Lorna, looking at your avatar, YOU should have been there!!!Grin1 [grin1]  Alison

PS It was a great day , and nice location ,for the run, too!

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

I don't know why but I thought that was for defence personnel only! Confused [8-)]  Well, one to keep in mind for next year, and might even be able to motivate dh to go to that one!  Sounds like it was great!  Good on you for managed 10km too, no small feat!

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

Ha ha, Lorna, well I'm definitely not part of the defence force!!!I actually only heard about it through s/one at the gym, but it's beeen running for years, apparently. I like  10km runs- it's a good distance. I hope to one day do a half marathon (21.1km)- not yet though! I did my best time on Sunday - 47 minutes, so was happy with that!Big Smile [:D]  Alison

Re: Melbourne: Spring into Shape series

    Hi Alison,

Want to catch up before or after the run for a chat?  What colour top will you be wearing?  Perhaps meet at the clothing marquee?  I haven't heard from Miller for a few weeks so unfortunately I don't think we'll be meeting her this time.

    Looking forward to a catch-up!
