    Dr Cohen Diet?

    Hi all,
Just wondering if anyones done/on/completed the Dr Cohen diet. I've paid and its shopping day tomorrow so I am starting it friday! Hooray! Sing [sing]

I'm pretty convinced its a low carb diet as theres no bread rice, pasta, sugar, tatoes ... ect involved. I've opted for tofu, cheese, egg and fish/seafoods as my proteins of choice so NO poultry, pork, or red meats are involved for me.

Does anyone have any tips/advice/ ect they can give/ are willign to share?

    Re: Dr Cohen Diet?

Without writing you the whole 52 page booklet thing out I can tell you a few key things, LC. Stick out tongue [:P]

    • Wait at least 5 hours between meals.
    • Weighing of foods must be exact, there is no margin for error
    • Drink 2-3 litres of water a day
    • It is crucial to stick to the eating plan, one slip will cost you an additional week on the program
    • Blood tests must be done every 4 weeks to check on blood chemistry.
    • Missing a blood test will not allow for a re-feeding program to be made.
    • No milk, sugar, honey, diet cordials, fruit juices or flavoured teas. Including sugar free lollies. 5 peices of sugar free gum are allowed a day.
    • Measurements of the body areas in addition to the weighing must be undertaken every 4 weeks (I'll do it once a week tho)
    • The program is made specifically to you, the patient according to your blood test. Do not share it with anyone.
    • Do NOT skip meals
    • Eat at least 2 hours before 9pm
    • Do not hacve more than 2 crispbreads at once& wait 2.5 hours before having more.
    • You must eat your full crispbread and fruit allowance for the first ten days (fibre content i assume)
    • NO EXCESSIVE EXCERCISE (I thought that was a bit odd) It even says not to take it up but I will endeavour to get back on the bike or walk or both again anyway.
    • Do not give blood.
    • Take a multi vitamin
    • No alcohol
    • Artificial sweeteners may be used- Hermestas and Sugerine only no natural ones
    • No alcohol at all Sad [:(]
    • No lactose, Yeast, preservatives, Added sugar, Gluten or wheat
    • A maximum litre of diet soft drink is allowed a day, in addition to water intake. Sprite zero, diet solo, diet pepsi, diet lift ect.
And thats about the extent of it without writing out and eating plan LC. Which Ill do another time if you want. However Im not sure I'll be in breach of copywrite laws.. ~hides~

    Re: Dr Cohen Diet?

Hey , TF! Good to see you again-an on fire, too, I see!!!!!

This Cohen thing sounds basically EXACTLY the same as SURESLIM, a programme I did about 4 years ago - low carb, weigh your food, 5 hrs btw meals, drink lots of water etc,etc....It worked really well for me. It's very hard to begin with - VERY hard- but you feel fab about 3-4 weeks into it! After I'd lost my weight....stuff happened.....and I never got to the maintenance part......anyway, I won't go on, but the actual "diet" worked incredibly well for me- oh, I stuck to it 100% though - no cheating whatsoever!I dropped to my lowest weight and body fat ever!

Anyway,I'm sure you'll do really well on it, TF -you GO girl!!!Wink [;)] Alison

Nothing tastes as good as feeling slim & healthy.....not even chocolate!!!

An alternative is Dr Atkins book, I think it's about $12 in most shops.

    Re: Dr Cohen Diet?

The pizzeria I work at will be closed for 2 weeks.

Millicent is a bit further than 5Km the pizza would probably be cold.

    Re: Dr Cohen Diet?

WEll, it sounds strict but no stricter than ATkins.  Hard at first but you will fuind the weight will just fall off fior 3-4  weeks then you will slow down and consolidate those losses.  Gentle exercise should be OK, walking or bike sounds about right.

So do they actualy do blood tests to check your nutrition etc?  Can't be a bad thing to keep an eye on.  Do let us know how it goes.

Good luck, you can always come and grouch at Dave's low carb board if you want to (http://www.auslowcarb.com/), we have people doing all sorts of plans including that Tony Ferguson diet.

    Re: Dr Cohen Diet?

Hello again, I tell ya what is good making all your meals up in plastic containers so when you are starving you are ready to go and dont pick at other stuff. Is your allowance for crackers 5 and fruit 2? Remember about the water to drink constantly the trips to the loo will get better, and the tea I used was the Nutrilim slimmers tea regular strength, try asian grocery place coz its cheapest there compared to a health food shop were they sting ya. Oh yeah alot of people that have done it lose 2kg a week consistantly and the weightloss only slows when you are close to goal and remember the tape measure is your best bet compared to scales. Once you see that weight melting away I know it will inspire you to go all the way. "YOU CAN DO IT" Tell yourself this is a small amount of time eating like this for lifetime results and your health. If you do use the tea brew only one cup at night before bed let the tea bag sit in cup until luke warm and skull and in the morning when you get a little cramping feeling run for you life LOL it gets better cos ive taken it for ages and dont get the cramping anymore. Ok hope I havent talked your ears off, Goodluck and remember it will get easier I promise.
