hiya again!
ahhh gosh we're so alike it's scary!
but fortunately coffee is one thing i have managed to get a hold on.
so here goes!
caffeine is something that can inhibit weight loss, so it's a good idea to jump on it straight away.
see if you can cut down to 2 coffees per day, with just one sugar. (i'm not a fan of artificial sweeteners having read vast amounts about the very unsavoury effects of them... so i'd rather have my cuppa with 1/2 - 1 sugar than the fake stuff...) you could look into a natural sweetener such as stevia, though it's not terribly cheap, you can find it in health food shops, in liquid form or tablet form.
any more than a cup or two per day brings in the abovementioned weightloss inhibiting thing that caffeine does. it's sort of counterproductive to what you want to achieve. for the short term transition, you could get a little jar of decaf (i call it decrap LOL) and make your 2nd cup a decaf, or going 1/2 real & 1/2 decaf when you make it. alternatively, start hooking into herbal teas. i'd recommend green tea and peppermint tea, available at any supermarket, or bojenmi tea, available at any good acupuncturist/chinese medicine place (there's one in Brighton i know that stocks it, called Enerchi. the bojenmi is about $7 a tin, and lasts forever as you only sprinkle a fingerful into the mug... let me know if you want their contact details). the good thing with each of those three teas is that they have beneficial effects for weight loss. peppermint tea is soothing and also helps abate hunger, green tea is a great antioxidant, and bonjenmi tea, read here http://www.itmonline.org/jintu/bojenmi.htm . basically it's really good at aiding digestion, and one of it's names is slimming tea, though i am averse to calling it by that name. i suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, and find it helps to soothe things, settle my tum and keep everything moving nicely. doesn't taste bad either. my cleaner calls it 'good luck' tea, as each time we share some, good things happen to her!
essentially, if you can cut your coffee down to just 2 a day, increase your water, and open yourself to maybe a cup or two of herbal tea, i think you'll be fine. oh yar the same goes for any caffeinated drinks like coke & pepsi... aside from the massive sugar content (unless you go zero or max) you're still hitting the caffeine high, and you don't want to be doing that.
hope that helps!
